    Every single state has such programs, albeit with varying restrictions (i think you get between a few days to a year or so after they're born, depending on the state). Not sure how you don't know this, since police stations are one place they can be left.

    You can essentially do this in D.C. however, CPS will track you down and arrest you if you do that without going the legal route. I was talking more along the lines of the no questions asked thing. That's what a lot of people have problems with is the process and the red tape for whatever reason. You essentially get put in the system if you go the legal route and most people don't want/can't get involved either because of family issues (minor who got pregnant and had a child and want to keep it from their family) or get punished some other way (not declaring a legal birth or registering the child is a felony in some cases). There's even cases where mothers who give their children up for adoption and end up getting arrested for outstanding things like warrants and whatnot.

    So to answer your question, yes I do know this so don't insult me.
