Quick and easy question.
At level 50, what are you guys doing to earn a steady income of gil? I find myself barely able to sustain myself haha.
Tips and tricks would be absolutely fantastic.
Thanks!

I've found level3 materia farming not too bad. I take Raptorskin or Tortoise gear (usually 2k-13k depending on server) with GC Patriot gear (raises spiritbond rate) and go to Northern Thanalan - do a few FATEs and that big chain one and you are good to go in 30-45min for five pieces of materia that if you are lucky can often cost 30-60k depending on server. Lots of people doing relics so of course they are in high demand right now.
Tier-III materia is also being gobbled up by those doing their final DoH quests. Pretty solid market for now~
except for assholes who undercut the market and drop the price of its entirely....Battledance was 100k and next day it gone to 25k
If you are really desperate, selling shards/crystals is decent. Can gather them pretty quickly. I think some of the shards on levi are going 100 shards for 5k or something. Not the best way but it is easy.
A good way to make money is to stop spending it, too. If you're constantly teleporting all over the place because you're too lazy to hoof it that will drain your bank quick!
Just go to a citystate and look at your chat log.
Level a craft up to 50 off of Levequests, and take it from there, level whatever subcrafts along the way and if you wanna be really cheap about it, level a DoL to farm the materias alongside with your craft.
Emphasized the important part, it's a mandatory quest many had to do - guaranteed supply. Not everything you gather will be worth lots of money, need to research before you go out (the gathering logs are a huge help here). But even with my crappy levels I've had no problem making money on both crafting and gathering, and that's with a week of not understanding the AH in a new game.
360k when I hit 50 and I still have a good 20-30k worth of quests still out there for my paladin leveling. Havn't really sat down to smash out cashmoneymoneycash but some dungeon drops go for a good amount of gil and HQing lvl 30-40 armor is good profit at times.
just curious, how much have you guys make so far in the current game economy?
I sold a stack of Diremite Web for... 35k on AH just yesterday. Was trying to farm HQ Web for Weaver Quest. It was my first sale on the AH, although I prefer making money off the server rather than AH. I've maintained at about 2.5m/2.6m since launch. Lowest was couple days ago 2,530k while the highest was at the peak of finishing Main Story quests at about 2,620k.
Edit: I would note that making gil at this point in time (with all 50's DoW/DoM) has Not been a priority. Be ready to drop 100k doing all job quests (those teleports really stack up after a while).
The new repair prices are really helping actually maintain a steady in-cashflow, what with spamming gathering/crafting leves with materials I farm myself. It's slow, but its the most positive thing you can do for the economy right now. Waiting on next big cash reward game event. /crossesfingers on dalies.
Leveling a craft using leves in no way is profitable the whole way through. The profitable way of leveling a craft is to sell items that give you decent experience (1-10 levels above or below current level) on the market board, ideally making a larger quantity of items below your level that you can reliably HQ.
Shards are plentiful at lower levels thanks to quests and rewards, but you will burn a hole in your pocket after level 30 when recipes call for multiple shards. Every turn-in for a levequest will drain hundreds, if not thousands of gil from shard costs, and this is before considering the material cost (and the shards used to make those).
I'll tell you right now, if you have to choose between Miner and Botanist for a DoL, go with Botany. There's so much more money to gain from it; I really regret taking Miner up instead.
Speaking of gathering - botanist more specifically - is there somewhere a list of everything that can be gathered for every class level range ?
Couldn't find a list somewhere and i'm annoyed to missing out on a list since ive mostly leveled with levequests so far
