Hey all, I just upgraded my motherboard and processor. I was using EVGA P55 and i5 760 2.80G before, now I have Gigabyte GA-B75M-HD3 mobo with an i5 3570k 3.40 processor.
I updated all my drivers, and everything seems to be working fine except for my network connection. I checked the bios to make sure the onboard lan was enabled, which it was, and all the drivers were download from Gigabyte's website. Before upgrading, I was using a wireless switch (I think that's the correct term? I always get them confused.) that I was connected to via ethernet cable. It's a pretty convoluted setup I know, but for some reason I've never been able to get USB wireless dongles working with my machine.
But anyway, previously this setup was working just fine. However, since upgrading I've been unable to connect to the network at all. I ran the Windows 7 troubleshooter, and it says that "An ethernet cable is not properly plugged in or might be broken". Nothing about my setup has changed other than the mobo and cpu.

New Motherboard/CPU, Can't Connect to Network
Hey all, I just upgraded my motherboard and processor. I was using EVGA P55 and i5 760 2.80G before, now I have Gigabyte GA-B75M-HD3 mobo with an i5 3570k 3.40 processor.
I updated all my drivers, and everything seems to be working fine except for my network connection. I checked the bios to make sure the onboard lan was enabled, which it was, and all the drivers were download from Gigabyte's website. Before upgrading, I was using a wireless switch (I think that's the correct term? I always get them confused.) that I was connected to via ethernet cable. It's a pretty convoluted setup I know, but for some reason I've never been able to get USB wireless dongles working with my machine.
But anyway, previously this setup was working just fine. However, since upgrading I've been unable to connect to the network at all. I ran the Windows 7 troubleshooter, and it says that "An ethernet cable is not properly plugged in or might be broken". Nothing about my setup has changed other than the mobo and cpu.

But anyway, do you mean a router setup as a wireless repeater? And did you reinstall the OS or at the very least remove the old drivers as it could either be old Ethernet drivers causing a conflict. Alternatively have you tried reseating the Ethernet cable on both ends or tried another one as you could have unknowingly damaged it/it could have died or have you already tested the cable on another system. Could also be a faulty port on the MB I guess.

Yeah, I uninstalled the old drivers, and when I couldn't get it to work I bit the bullet and reinstalled Windows. Didn't work. I tried the cable and the repeater (looks like a router, so it probably is one, just set up as a repeater like you said.) with my laptop and it found the connection just fine.
Edit: I was able to get the wireless dongle working. Apparently there was an issue with the driver, so I had to redownload it. Thanks anyway for trying to help!

Why did you put an unlocked CPU on a no OC Mobo? >.> Could have save yourself few bucks buying non K version.

They were being sold as a bundle for a decent price. Can always upgrade to a better mobo later on down the line, but my old cpu was nothing special compared to the new one. Already noticing a big difference in performance.
