lol(Matt Reaver) check the gear, my lb with life thrust and blood for blood does 15k on a bad day champ...
I have had a slew of bad experiences with console players in this game so far, and to save myself the headache of dealing with any potential issues since I handle most of our recruitment... A few months ago I just put up a notice on our application page saying I don't take PS3/PS4 only players.
This person has been asking me to lift the restriction for months and I've seen him openly talk shit in shout about us "discriminating" against console players in shout... and now that they beat Turn 9 tonight he decided to make this topic.

I'm not sure how to feel.
Edit: He deleted the topic, but you can still see it if you have the link... lol.
I like the fixation on "we dont want you if you dont parse" rather than the loading issues.
Lol, yeah.
I never personally had a console player in my raid group, but I often sub in for people when they can't make raid in my other FC groups and during 2.0 I worked with a lot of console DPS who refused to even listen to parse results from myself/other PC players and it was really hard to give people feedback when their response was along the lines of "I don't use that third party tool shit".
I do still think controller ppl are shit even on PC, but thats just me.
Well this is new.

Been done 50 times, but damn if I'm not posting it anyways.
Spoiler: show
The controller-on-PC isn't for everyone. FFXI was a whole different ballgame. I used controller-on-PC there all the time.
It may be because with XIV I had experience with WOW, and started with KB/mouse before trying to learn a console scheme, but I just find XIV's controller setup to be overly complex. I mean, yeah, it has a lot of power and in the right hands it can do quite well. The subtargeting is super-nice. That said, I spent a night playing on the PS3 to get acclimated to it when a friend was over and using my PC, and I kept accidentally using the wrong ability or changing palettes by accident, having trouble curing out-of-party, etc.
I thought about trying to learn controller-on-PC for this but it just seemed like it wouldn't be worth the effort.
Which is why people who master controller are better![]()
Honestly the only reason I'd "master controller" would be if I bought a PS4 and a Vita and wanted to be able to dither about what to do from any room in the house.
Or play whenever I go to MTL.
99% of controller and console players are awful
you're more likely to get a good player by denying them so i approve
Mastering controller? Holy crap. Play with either for a couple of weeks and you got it down, if you can't figure out how to play on controller I doubt you would be much better at this game on KB/M. I don't really care if you deny players based on whether they use controller or not (lol) but you're kidding yourself if you think it actually matters.
So much hate towards console players lol, I still play on my PS3 and do absolutely fine. I do have an SSD installed in there so it does make a difference, but it isn't HUGE. You're probably catching unskilled casuals who don't play PC games but decided to try this shit
edit: Also, mastering controller, like was stated above me, is brain dead easy. The hardest part is pressing L1 to skip to the next bar. You can still action que, etc
Half of my coil crew are controller users, and one of them even has to use his phone for voice chat because he's on a PS4.
Shit doesn't matter.
Playing on controller is all about memorizing your cross bar, proper target filters and cross bar filters when you're engaged. It's not hard, but it takes effort to be proper effective at it.
The only legitimate issue anyone should have with console players is load times which can be fixed with an SSD.
It makes no difference, in fighting games I used to laugh at people who played on pads and thought it was impossible for them to execute the same as on a stick but it has been proven that it doesn't matter.
