Get CC on low level roulette and see a 39 Marauder. Guy proceeds to suck. We die 2x to the first boss. The healer doesn't want to kite and the tank keeps dropping because he's taking a ton of damage cos no defiance and he's wearing DPS gear. We clear it the third time with the healer and tank dead, the DRG pulling the healing add to the corner and me kiting the mess of antlions on BRD. Healer rage quits, so while we're standing around I ask why he doesn't have WAR and this is the answer that I get.

I'm at 59 HQ Umbral. The node before last I got one. This past node I got none. With a fucking 32% HQ rate, I am beyond pissed. I saw the red depths of hell on that last hit and I can't recall what I did exactly but I do know my hand hurts and is swolen.

I'm not joking in the slightest. I am so mad that I literally hurt myself. I cannot fucking stand this cuntery fucking bullshit. This stupid retardedly high gathering rate needed bullshit 60+ acquisition is breaking me down. Like I have been completely apathetic towards this game lately because of this shit.

Between missing it by a few because I had to take a break from the game, forgetting to use food, or being forced out of the node, or accidentally just exiting the node, or any of this STUPID FUCKING OTHER SHIT that this game forces it's players to choke down, I am seriously wondering why I pay to play this shit. I am an addict with an issue and seriously need help. Holy christ this is really getting to me.

I do with how imbecilic I am over not having used the Deep Vigor method. Holy christ. On the plus side, I did get my Umbrals. I didn't kill myself and am still playing this game. Without the hat I can natural hit any node and mine it with a 30%+ chance. So fuck you, game.

That BS with nodes vanishing is complete BS I agree. Just there as a giant fuck you if you forget food or don't have full GP. Not as if we haven't ground our way up to be able to harvest the nodes in the first place and earned some respect from those fucking nodes, but nooooooo, take your eyes off the tree and it vanishes. Makes heaps of sense.

Pretty sure there's a minimum gathering/perception required to mine/log at special nodes as well as even have a chance for HQ. If you don't meet reqs you can't do shit (or you'll just end up wasting your time) and if you back out the node disappears.

Right, but melding your DoL jobs is cheap and easy as there are almost no forbidden melds that need to be done on BTN/MIN to reach the minimum values (maxing FSH is another story, but still not that bad). Getting a single craft to be 3star capable cost me twice as much as both BTN and MIN combined.

You mean just to meet the bare minimum? You can do that pretty cheap with a craft class+food as well, it's not that expensive. If you want to actually get good results the DoL can be more costly to max meld.

Edit: well actually I have had accessories melded for so long I forgot how much of a pain that was for DoH

I spent like a mil melding the new DoH belt/ear/neck the other day, mostly out of stubbornness.

FYI, trying to save money on doing a 2+1 instead of a 3 only works when the 2's and 1's don't both break 30 times.

You know, Moggle EX /is/ a pretty easy fight. But if you're the MNK that pushed phases early every single time, telling a tank and the only healer that remembered Esuna/Leeches that you're upset because the fight "isn't that hard', I'm gonna want to deck you in the schnoz.

Food will let you get the high-value nodes before collecting your Umbral Rocks/Fragrant Logs, for one thing. Not too big of a deal over the long term, but not trivial, either.
