Because it's true. You're playing a game that's explicitly being marketed to new/casual players. The developers are telling you exactly what they want FFXIV to be, it's not like they haven't been clear about their intentions - if you don't like that then I'd say yes, you're playing the wrong game.

Meh SE doesn't owe any one group of players anything imo. It's their game. If we dun like it we should go play something else. You can never please everyone but if you yourself are not pleased with the game then move along. It's not worth the headache to clamor on for change from a group in the vast minority in a video game. Real world, different story. Leave the pixels be.

That's a sheep mentality. You've seen the OF, casual players bitch there all the time and they get what they want. I guess the problem is I should post more on OF, but I'll just get overrun with casual players telling me I'm wrong.

And don't get me wrong, I do the casual content, I just want more horizontal progression at end game, that's all. Or just some other meaningful content that isn't endgame raid.

It's not like I'm walking into a church and asking everyone there to preach something different, we're all part of the same community and SE is providing a service to us. I pay them money, I can express my opinion. I love the game, I play almost every day and I will continue to play in expansion. Just hoping for some change that I think would benefit everyone.

Yeah, I agree 99%. Except, part of my point was that it doesn't have to be catering to us as they have casual players. Because you have to understand (as we all do) that it's smart business for them to make it easy for new players to join the game. I applaud them for doing a god job at it. However, I think they've failed in certain areas. I think they've made certain aspects TOO easy, and backloaded learning one's job until the highest level without really teaching players exactly how to play their classes. Continuing with current implementation is just breeding a vicious cycle of under-skilled and over-entitled players. Anyway, I digressed slightly there.

My main point is that they should slowly begin to tip the scales away from casual/welcoming new players into adding more depth to the gameplay/content for experienced players. He (Yoshi P) said himself that ARR is for new players... so why distinguish that with the content in your expansion.

I dunno, just my opinion, everyone always shoots me down saying "it will never be that way", but does it hurt to have this opinion and want more? No I don't think so. Again, I love the game and will keep playing, but the more people that express their want for something "more" the better chance "we" have of seeing that come to fruition. If you just roll over and accept things for what they are then nothing will change.

I wouldn't say "it will never be that way" but I will say "it use to be that way". Older MMOs and single player games were harder and had actual learning curves. Maintaining accessibility of the "stupid masses" is why this game has 4mil subs, why WoW has peaked at 12mil subs, etc.

Tbh man I've been listening to you go on for awhile now about this and I am rigt there with you. But the golden age of gaming has passed by us. If you want that hardcore, scaled experience that you can sink your teeth into then check out divinity original sin or pickup bloodborne.

Online games aren't designed to be difficult or inaccessible anymore because it doesn't have wide appeal and those games will flop every time (see: Wildstar). Nobody wants to change cuz if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It's a game to us bit the risks associated with taking a chance in the MMO world mean someone's job, career, life, etc. and nobody is going to try anymore. Innovation is stagnant in this genre and will continue to be stifled until someone comes along and breaks the mold (maybe EQN maybe SC, we'll have to see what the future holds) with a new and successful business idea.

I'm still shocked after the Golden Saucer update people can still give half a shit about hunts. Moment I could do weekly for Carbontwin I said screw it to all forms of hunting and dropped them like a bad habit.

I have seen plenty of threads asking for such things on the OF, funnily enough they get derailed/polluted by people who claim to be hardcore/High End players and said threads get locked/removed because they turn into flame wars and idiotic arguments about how one could beat T9 and not the other.

Showed up late to an S rank like 3 times this week despite porting as soon as I saw the message in a random LS (no, I was not actively hunting, lol who does that?). You know what I did? Shrugged, teleported out, and went back to what I was doing before.
