This seems to happen very often now, and not only on GLA, I see PUG/THM/ARC/MRD very often in Dung such as Aurum Vale and Dzemael when I do a low Lv roulette, facepalm everytime, but at least I direct them toward the relevant NPCs...

Note that the fail isn't the shit gear (although it is bad), but more that a lvl 50 bard wearing bard AF wants to know where the bard quests are.

Not happy, so quick story

I have 2 characters 1 Main, 1 alt

I needed to format my computer (been a while so a fresh install is always good), so make my files backup, and XIV backup through the launcher. Also with the Mygames folder I backup my ffxiv.cfg and ffxivboot.cfg

Inside I see my FFXIVchar##### folder that has been modified April 2nd and another one on Feb 25 (about the last time i logged on my alt). So to make sure I go ingame make a new macro and confirm the date changed on the good folder, So i back it up.

Format my PC blah blah reinstall and update game while sleeping, and I come to restore my files, XIVboot and XIV.cfg are ok, logged on my character to create the XIVchar### folder and then overite the files with the one from the backup.

NOPE even though i checked everthing it seem that it was my alt folder.


Currently fucking pissed because I lost all my main UI/Macros/Gear sets etc and have to redo everything since game+windows showed me the wrong folder.

I do admit I should've backed up both folders but still angry

In some cases, especially in the lower level dungeons, its much better to go as the Class due to all the cross class skills you can get. If you're queuing Low-level roulette, its smarter to just go as a class and set the proper cross classes and you'll do better most of the time (as a DPS or Tank anyway). Its just bad luck if you end up in one of the 40+ dungeons.

Least thats what I recall. Only some classes benefit from this. I think GLA is one of them being able to set Raging Strike and such? I'd have to log in to look. I think ACN gets RS and B4B if set as ACN and not SMN.

Yes, but when you do Brayfox + its better to go as the Job, I was in a Titan Storymode this morning, the healer was not WHM but CNJ, but she was very nice and listened to everything I explained, related to the fight or to what she will have to do in order to get her WHM job.

I think vets don't really take the time to help/explain things to newbies anymore, not that its absolutely necessary but its much better than rageing on them in a dungeon and rq.

Mayhaps thats right. I think the scope of this benefit is a few of the DPS jobs. As for B4B, its not too bad in the low-low dungeons (up to the 30's) where you could basically afk with Eos healing. Post Sword oath... yah probably not.

Actually had a friend that did that on the pentameld of the gathering bracelet. He got GP4 GP3 GP3 Gather2 and misclicked a Perc1 instead of a perc2 and it went in.

tl;dr DRG complained I did too much DPS taking hate off tank. Told the tank he is doing fine and not to worry, he was pretty fresh/new was being nice about it. DRG tells tank to stop moving around so much for his positionals, I let the DRG know his DPS was nothing notable in the dungeon. Ended with that great quote.

So, I heard running the towers got pretty bad but holy hell. I went really only to help out a friend. Also I figure maybe I can pick up tank body in case I feel like glam. I go as PLD.

- First sign things were bad. I go collect the 3 initial adds, I have rampart/sentinel on and... about 5 seconds later I die. Keep in mind all my gear is 130 save for 115 shield. I ponder why this keeps happening to me (virtually same thing happened to me last time I went PLD to WOD).


- The first set of adds are taking a long time. Like, longggg time. I check the dps charts and even though I died I'm basically one of top 5. There's some commentary about how high my dps is. One of the whms who stared at me as I died says "of course he's doing 300+, look at his gear" not realizing it was commentary about how bad everyone else was. Guess I'm going full str gear for the eye.


- I switch to full str gear and use sword oath. Boss takes FOREVER. My whms can't stop dying to mortal gaze. I don't know how I live through it all but I end up in top 2 or 3. Now I'm really getting fuckin worried. I really should have quit here.


- We move on to hydra boss: I do my thing again and it takes even more forevvvvvvvvvvverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrerrrerrer. It takes so long I run out of TP. And even though I run out of TP and basically wait for half my gauge to fill while just standing there for max FoF dps, I FINISH FUCKING TOP DPS WTF.


- Cerb boss is where it just gets great. The healers are shit, the dps is shit, I know I can't survive in sword this time so I do some gear swapping and put shield up this time. While I'm waiting the burtgang tank with his other shit gear pulls. Ok, he's impatient, w/e. I run up provoke and start tanking and since he's a taru I don't really notice him standing there turned around. People do their thing, even though I don't trust my healers I trust the other tanks a lot less to pull the adds so I take them myself as I have lots of CD's and they're not that bad if I'm ready.

I notice the tank that initially pulled is still AFK so I say in alliance: kick him after pt, he's been afk. But APPARENTLY, he was there the whole time in PRINCESS mode, really truly angry that I was tanking the boss. My whm says something like "yeah I don't know why you're tanking, you're the add tank." It finally hits me, all these fuckin retards have been conditioned to believe in the A = adds, B = belly, C = chains strategy (I am A tank) and the princess tank starts ranting like crazy LOL. I end up dying cause my healers decided healing the tank who has cerb and 2 banes is relatively unimportant and I'm just seriously like WTF at this point. I want to explain to them the extent of their stupidity but I don't have enough interest in trying to educate morons.

- We get to final boss, princess tank is still yammering away. My friends and I are laughing at the retardation of it all. I decide go sword/str and throw up CD's and see what happens, especially since the other guy felt the need to tank so bad. Of course nobody else can hold hate so I die in about 5 seconds and now the healers are complaining I'm not in shield oath. Like are you serious? I DONT WANT TO USE ENMITY STANCE CAUSE YOU CAN BARELY KEEP ME ALIVE. But I guess that's my fault for wearing str gear and wanting to carry alliance in DPS again so we can all go home. Meanwhile, my friends are dying while the whms are complaining about me. I die probably about 2-3 more times from pulling hate in str/sword even while weakened/double weakened. Incredible


I heard the towers were pretty horrific with returning players but I figured at least wed wouldn't be too bad. I was so god damn wrong. Tuesday night or never again. Probably more like never again.
