Ahhh good ol' maintenance time POL chat, now in party finder form.
The other team put up a good fight...

As much as this guy is an asshole, he made a very strong point XD.
Players now a day need guides to do everything, because the playerbase just wont try to learn by themselves, they prefer it to be handed to them. So you can not reproach that to him, even if he sound really retarded.
Never said he was clever, but lets be honest, when people look for experienced players they actualy mean people who already tryed/won the fight. When you come & say that you've watched Videos most of the time it doesn't count to them.
Now yes, it was stupid to come in a party aiming for the win and act the way he did.
From an outsider point of view I think his argument is valid, but not in the right context.
His problem is that he's a pedantic asshole who doesn't seem to realise that not figuring it out for yourself = not figuring it out for yourself. He seems to think that wiping and being told what to do is more acceptable than watching a video, when the reality is you're still relying on an external source to give you knowledge and information. His point isn't valid at all when all he wanted to portray was that he was more stubborn than smart.
There is no difference since the result is the same, you learn the fight. He doesn't want to watch videos, but he still wants to learn the fight. One way is more of a burden than the other.
If he or she wanted to learn the fight, he or she should have done them when they first appeared.
Unless I'm whooshing, he means that if he wanted the pioneer mentality to be acceptable, he should have been doing them before the mechanics were understood and the information was available to all.
But again, all of the pioneer crap goes out the window when you're asking for the same information during the fight.
("Statute of limitations", by the way)
So I guess there's people who've never seen Selene before...

So far I've joined 7 so-called Garuda Ex farming parties where people didn't really know what they were doing and therefore couldn't beat her, not even in a reasonable number of attempts. Discouraged by this I tried to build my own with a simple requirement, having cleared Titan Ex, which is easy to check by queuing in Ifrit, as we all know how worthless ilvl is as an indicator of capability. Could be requiring that they had all 3 primals cleared but that's harder to check and Titan is a nice enough filter for competence. It's not really a fair way to do so as I'm certain that there's people who haven't cleared Titan not because of their skill but the groups they had a chance to go with, but it's better than no background check at all in my desperate view of the matter.
All sorts of drama ensued. For instance:
Received plenty of tells about this, ranging from people to that wouldn't understand why I would be doing this or insulting me to requests of joining without satisfying the requirement.
Also had plenty of people who joined without reading the comment or ignoring it, and getting all pissy when I asked them out. Or people who joined as a class to then switch to another (had 3 healers at one point). All sorts of drama ensued.
In the end the party ended up disbanding because we couldn't find a 2nd tank.
It's ironic that farming Ifrit is way easier because people that got to that point know their stuff (I cleared that on DF...). Getting to farm Garuda for its ring is becoming an Odyssey for me.
Garuda ex is the new titan hm. I cannot for the life of me find a party that can beat it. Either DF or party finder.
I once used Party Finder with a comment like: Dodge, or at the very least, don't die. Everyone died. I've come to realise that if you put something in your comment the opposite will likely be true.
I've been thorugh so many garuda ex parties that fail because of tanks fucking up spiny or dps getting killed by tornadoes. Gotten it to 5% or less sooo many times but still no clear :\
I saw that yesterday and started laughing as an FC mate was planning something similar to this to see if people were lying about beating Garuda Ex by queuing for Titan and the same for Titan Ex.
I did join a Titan EX PF where the party went to shit before it started because the BRD threw a hissy fit cause the PLD didn't want to use food right away (both were wearing ex primal weapons). Fastest fail party ever and didn't even touch the boss.
Party Finder said: must have achievement for clearing Titan Ex to join.
We then went on to have a fairly successful farming party when I pulled in an 8th.
I gave up on Garuda "farming" parties after 3 different fail parties. The last one in particular had 4/8 of the party (including the leader) die to the first mistral shriek despite the requirements being "must be experienced and have beaten the fight".
