I've just started assuming that if the player is a BLM or PLD, they're either a bot, extremely misinformed about their job, or are just terrible.

I've already seen 2 BLMs who have only used Fire1 and transpose, today.

If he's never played an MMO and has been playing solo since PS4 release, it "makes sense." The game really doesn't ever tell you your job is to draw threat outside of one(?) GLA quest, where they just want you to draw ranged attackers and you can ignore that anyway. It's not like there isn't a contention of players who'll just drag a shit tank through dungeons that far anyway. Can't imagine how he got through Brayflox, though.

One of the first GLA quests requires you to explicitly grab hate on multiple groups of enemies and keep them off an NPC there healing you.

I don't remember this at all (which means neither do most players).

There's been enough people in these threads complaining about shieldless paladins. I don't know, they GIVE you shields for your class quests, but again, that's making the assumption people are doing them.

lol well that is true, like a month or two ago I had posted in thsi thread or random compliant about doing bray (regular) on my alt and having a gladiator, not paladin, with no shield.

Just got out of Tam-Tara via low level roulette, and the tank was one of those people. Flash spam until out of MP (even single target), and just fast blade. Endless fast blades the entire dungeon.

At least your tank knew what Flash was. Did a Tam-Tara on my BLM for my book yesterday and ended up in a sordid hate triangle with the SCH and Eos for the entire session. Not sure I ever saw a single Flash.

If somebody has played long enough to forget what they did during their class quests, they've played long enough to know how their class works.

Sure, maybe some of them have never done them, but there are a good deal who have but are just clueless anyways. I.E a GLD trying to shield lob a target in melee range to death.

In my defense, I did the quests back during Early Access as a lv50 just trying to plow through. I was more than acclimated to how tanking works. My point for phrasing it that way so I could echo Niiro's "I don't care so no one else does" that he used in the Lore thread to try and demonstrate how ridiculous that sounds.

I had a DF AK like this. We load up everyone but me is in AF1 or i60 little to no darklight. I ask if people know speed run get no response. So I pull they fight the wrong mobs and things dying sloooowwl *fast forward* we get to the 1st boss pull till flayer spawns up. The drg never dps adds and the smn did nothing, after asking in put chat for the smn to lb the adds + boss he dies I end up tanking and killed add plus boss. After the fight I inform them if we can't kill the first boss clean we can't clear this. The healer then proceeded to say I was a bad tank for not holding adds and that I need to learn how to tank. I don't think I've LOLWAT'd harder in my life.

Comparing a skippable story cutscene to a quest fight with specific requirements for success is totally the same thing.

I'd remember the aforementioned cutscene if I could fail it because I wasn't paying attention.

You can brute force the majority of the class quests simply by failing enough and stacking the Echo.

Some of ya'll dudes are seriously underestimating how many people are just playing this game because it says Final Fantasy that happens to be online not because it's an MMO. I almost read this as "FFXI was great because the high barrier to entry kept out all the fanscrubs".
