Inmates running the asylum. Rather than think that perhaps there's more than one strat, they just assume they're all pros. The accusations of bought accounts and "Wow, it takes a lot to get her to curse" commentary disgusts me.
With enough echo and enough people who don't know what the fuck, it's entirely possible they were just catching newish folks and telling the tank to pick up spiders to be killed instead of just feeding and burning.

so...what...they killed the dread and then aoe'd the spiders after? or kept the spiders for the double rook phase? and they've done it enough times that it's standard for them? whaaaa?
maybe they just expect the tank to pick up the spiders and run it over to feed? like they have some deer-in-the-headlights mental block of "I have aggro, tanks are always supposed to deal with aggro stuff, therefore I shouldn't have to move behind the dread"? (people should start asking the bads "why," their reasoning can be ultra-hilarious)
that is truly lol-worthy. and then they start ganging up on you like a pack of middle schoolers. amazing.
Tbh this is the best way to get kicked out of groups
They did you a favor
This one time doing a shitty Turn 4 PUG, I tried explaining the logic of just moving two body lengths behind the Dreadnaught to path the Bugs right into it. Both the WHM and SCH flipped out about how they can't heal while moving, etc. (no one was in any danger). Phase 3, was also accused of being a shitty PLD for not picking up the Bugs when they drop (and simultaniously picking up the Dreadnaught). Phase 4, they refused to run to the fucking middle repeatedly (can't heal while moving!). In Phase 5, the whole party flipped out about me not using Hallowed Ground... on a single unbuffed Dreadnaught. Phase 6, WHM and SCH shit themselves over the kill order.
I don't even know how these people managed to clear Turn 4 pre-Echo.
Generally speaking, the people doing T4 now were not doing it when it was current. As a result, the working strategies aren't known and people account for Echo and shit in the baseline. Why CAN'T the tank grab the spiders? What do you mean that used to not work? Why pay attention to mechanics? Did you buy your account or something?
I just had a weird moment of clarity. What if grabbing spiders IS viable now? The gear differences between Then and Now can account for a shift.
GUYS WHAT IF BY REFUSING TO CHANGE WE ARE THE BADS
I run T4 a lot since healing body doesn't exist and I've never seen ANY of this in PF or DF (and I've won a few DF runs out of boredom).
Main experience is just making greed only runs in PF and clearing it with randoms in about 4min 30s over and over.
I have to admit, grabbing all the bugs and burning down 10(?) instead of 6 after the dreadnaught sounds pretty entertaining.
I dunno, half the time it turns from dumb to dumber.
May have posted this before, Titan story-mode, some PUG (should've been my first clue - new players are one thing, but new players with strategy ideas are another) said after the first wipe (2 people got hit with landslide) "Who has AOE?". I'm puzzled because what use does AOE have in Titan? Not sure if I'm being trolled I ask "Why do you ask?" and the answer was "It stops the knockback".
How...how do you even...
Couldn't the main tank just stand in the middle, wait for dread to drop, tomahawk/shield lob it to the middle so it always eats the spiders? No one has to move, at all.
Am I in bizarroland that this is not how it's usually done for that pull? wtf, did echo really change things that much?
Dreads used to do more damage just on account of tank HP scaling. Healers were tissue and couldn't handle being out of position and taking spider hits. Positioning and execution mattered as-much-if-not-more than your stats, barring the hard DPS check. All of that is out the window now.
Which is why the main tank would stand in the middle, after those knights/etc were dead and wait for dread to drop to pull dread to middle and feed. Why would healers be in the middle anyway? You'd not have to move much at all, just go to a corner after or during the first pull, or after the main's shit is dead. I pugged a few t4 before echo, and nearly everyone wanted this method rather than having anyone else get aggro for even a second on bugs. I haven't gone since echo though, so I guess it's antiqued.
But then, asking how they want things done is the right answer if you're going to bother queuing for it. There's enough slightly different ways to handle it that not all being on the same page leads to really fast wipes. But then we miss out of some fails.
