Some movie previews show only the best parts. Some don't even tell you what the fuck a movie is about. I think this one seriously just tl;dw'd itself in 2:33. Probably a rental for me given remake status, unless for some reason people rave over it.

It's a forty year old movie. (jesus christ, it's a forty year old move. fuck time.)
And has been parodied to the point that people who have never even seen the original knows exactly what happens.

That being said, I wonder why they even bothered remaking this movie if they didn't bother changing much of anything. It looks like it's just George Lucas throwing in special effects into his old movies. Which judging from the trailer, seems to be exactly what they're looking to do, by saying "Hey look! It's just like the original except now we can do even crazier shit with special effects!"
At least Evil Dead made some major changes.

The Shining series that King worked on for TV was more true to the original than the Polanski version, however it was not very entertaining. Polanski and Nicholson are what made the original theatrical release so amazing. The remake was so-so.

It was alright. If I recall correctly they made more out of the black dude's character. I can't remember if he was even in the film.

Speaking of The Shining, I didn't realise till yesterday that Stephen King had written a sequel called Doctor Sleep. Bought it and I hope it lives up to the good review I read (I had vouchers to use up and nothing else was appealing lol).
