It requires the Republican defects to support an end-around. There is no way to know if it will get the votes until they start doing whip counts.

Yeah this sign-up period is going to be tricky, my wife and I both have our own coverage right now but I think we'll need to go over joint plans with a fine-tooth comb. THANKS OBAMA

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

You know, is it pretty guaranteed that insurance companies are raising all their premiums?

We don't pay a lot as is for kaiser, and haven't received any paperwork yet to say they were changing anything. I also like kaiser and how their system/facilities work, so would rather not change it unless they decide to rape us in the face on the cost.

Come to think of it, maybe they aren't changing their prices because of them having their own facilities?

I have Kaiser too and I'd like to keep it. Only problem is wifey has her own network and she really likes her OB/GYN, so if we get insured on the same plan I know I'm losing this battle.

That's basically what I want, catastrophic plan (PPO so I'm not with the unwashed masses of lolHMOs), HSA eligible. HSAs are tight as hell.

Lots of furloughed peeps returning to work Monday. I don't know why/how since last I saw no one was voting before Monday but maybe something has changed. Either way it's a good sign

Looks like it's an interpretation of the law they passed just before the shutdown, according to this article.

To be sure, this isn't some unintended consequence of his law right? This is companies trying to stick it to him and his plans and milk us for everything they can because they're pissed they can't do it in a less obvious way?

Someone has to pay for all the new cripples getting health insurance for the first time. You can only handle so many people with AIDS and lupus before prices go up.

no, they are legally required to pay out 80% of whatever aggregate premiums they collect for medical related expenses. they can't just gouge customers. plus there are a lot of smaller players looking to grab market share who can't afford to ratejack their non-existent customer base. when you are forced to treat customers who spend $5000+ a month on treatment the same as customers who go for routine checkups once every 6 months, it's pretty obvious that the median is not going to be an especially happy one for a lot of people.

Soon as you stop repeating the Obamacare mantra in your head, the sooner you'll realize this shitty game was predicted long ago. I can recall immediately following it's passing that either the former Pfizer CEO or some other former Health Insurance big dog was on Bill Moyers explaining these exact conditions when you would be able to "shop around" for coverage(as tens of millions of Americans, including 262,000 Minnesotans, will remain uninsured after its full implementation).

And the talk was that there were so many healthy people joining up that it would off set the prices. Bull fucking shit, Murika.
