    You really skip Dragonhead FATEs?

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I am definitely one of those that does a mixture of everything. While it may not be the "best" it means I enjoy doing everything without getting burnt out.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that I started 2.0 with two 50s already, so I wasn't in that pressure to get one up there outside of getting the MSQ done.

In pretty much every mmo I've played, I've enjoyed the journey to cap a lot, so I don't let myself rush it.

i think fates are good because you get seals and its pretty brainless especially if you have a bunch of AoEs and are in a fate party..
but ive been in pts, duo or trios that have burned through mobs so fast that it probably matches up to the same speed, and you're actually playing your job.

i'd really like if they made dungeon exp slightly better.. and levequests much better. the only reason to do those is probably to get clears, achievements and random items that they reward.

You get some seals by hitting nearby FATEs, but not as many as pure FATE grinding.
Party of 4, mobs 5 levels higher, move camps as you ding, playing with friends. Way better and much faster exp than FATEs in a silent party of 7 other randos standing around in town.

Never ever seen a shout of people doing it this way on my server. Probably a couple groups of friends, i'd assume, but it doesn't seem to be too popular.

Reason could be that FATE lets you watch TV/divx/browse web/whatever, you can pretty much slack as much as you want unless you're doing the FATEs at Dragonhead where you better instantly jump in the bus when it leaves town if you want to get a shot at touching a mob. In the other hand destroying 1000000 low HP mobs as a full group sounds a lot more tiring than being half afk watching something on your second screen waiting for a FATE to start.

I don't know how/if mob grinding is faster, but I leveled my BRD in 4 days doing FATEs, and that's with 2 afternoon I didn't play, 1 evening I barely played etc. At this degree I think the method - tiring/enjoyable etc or not - is more relevant than if you can do it 10% or 20% faster. To me anyway.

Edit- And yeah, the GC seals. Spent 40k of them buying xp scrolls to level botanist. It's really REALLY nice to make so much of them in the process of leveling.

The "mindlessness" of FATEs does have some appeal, with the aforementioned examples. Also, you can gather/craft in-between FATEs, which you obviously can't with XP parties.

I do miss the XP parties from 11 though. They should make them reward even more XP than FATEs, to make them worthwhile - since you actually need to play your job to XP.

    Also seals.

Old-skool FFXI XP party, eh? I could go for that, might give it a try with some buddies this weekend. Reminds me of pulling on BRD in South/North Mamool or bird camps.

Anyone know if you can manually level sync for that kind of thing, or is it restricted to FATEs and dungeons? Thanks!

Do we have any lists of where to go for some old school grindzoring party shit? Or just go wherever is 5+ lvls over you and roam while murdering w/e you see? Does seem interesting, since shit 5-8lvls over me gives me around 500-800xp a kill when rested.

Is this purely anecdotal, or do you have raw exp/hr numbers per the level ranges? Not doubting you, I'm genuinely interested if this is really viable from an efficiency (and fun?) standpoint.

Anything is more fun then FATEs after doing them for an hour. Especially Dragonhead FATEs -_-
