Do you want any of it, though? Of course we have lolswamps, but shit, the homes by the beaches have to be rebuilt every year.
Then there's the Cubans everywhere...
@Izzy: My post was in no way shape or form intended to have any bearing to the moronic OF or those like them. I apologize if I implied otherwise. My points, I'd hope, are able to stand on their own two feet: anyone expecting a better solution to this from SE needs to have their head examined.
@Eanae: Half-trolling, but of course you'd know all about the inner workings of POS hacking and exploits. Granted, we all should by this point but still.
Less than 600 people, out of the entire population, lost their gil due to RMT activity (367 million gil total, average ~60 million per account). That is not a wide-net cast and I am hesitant to believe that out of such a small number of accounts that there would be so many false positives. You got caught red handed and it sucks. Just be glad they didn't delete your account.
This is from the October 1st announcement. We've known the entire time that any account that was suspended was going to lose their gil. It doesn't matter that some minimum wage GM in a call center in Canada or wherever erroneously told you otherwise.Gil of temporarily suspended accounts will be confiscated.
*womp womp*
The way I read it was that it's not that only 600 people were temp banned. It's that of everyone they gave a temp ban, only 600 of them were actually guilty.
The amount of stupidity going on in this thread is skyrocketing to Starcade levels.
Let me explain something to you. On my server at least, I could easily make 1mil+ a day just running CM and selling the crafting items from Philo tomes. This whole "YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT NOBODY HAD THE GIL TO BUY THAT SHIT LEGIT" is the dumbest fucking argument I've ever seen in my life. It is not that hard to make gil in this game. You can argue that my specific scenario for making gil is caused by the inflation the gilbuyers/sellers had on the economy but explain to me how that is my problem? I see a demand for an item, I have a mind-numbingly easy way to obtain that item through legit means, so you can be damn sure that if I choose I need to make money, that is how I'm going to do it. If SE hadn't been incompetent in the first place that inflation wouldn't have existed, if you're going to argue that route.
Just because people are bad at the game and don't know how to make money doesn't mean that it is somehow the fault of the people who do. Nor does the responsibility of who they're selling to fall on the sellers. Ever. That's not how this fucking works. The people claiming that the high prices "forced" people to RMT to buy said items are even more retarded because there is perfectly legit ways of making money that require such little effort I don't understand how anybody can complain about not having enough gil for things.
I know quite a few people that run CM all day and sell potash for the 30-50k profit per sale. They have around 2 mil at this point. They've been doing this off-and-on for roughly 3 weeks, and weren't punished in any way. They were not meticulous with their sales, and sold to whoever would click the buy button the AH.
They were not harmed, banned or compromised in any way. If you, yourself, got hammered by SE only through selling potash when running legitmate CM/AK runs (no AK saccing pre-nerf), then you're an aberration, because no one I know selling only tome items was affected by this in any way, shape, or form.
If you haven't done the above, yet were whacked, then why are you even posting? It clearly means you did something SE didn't like.
As I said in my first post in the thread, this doesn't affect me. I'm saying if I was pressed for cash, I could make ridiculous amounts of money in short amounts of time through legit means.
Thus debunking both of the retarded arguments that this is somehow the fault of the people who were selling things at high prices because they forced people to RMT, or that they should have known the people they were selling to were RMT. Both of which are retarded arguments even without the fact that you can make money easily in this game but apparently the massive circlejerk on reddit and the OF can't get that through their thick mongoloid skulls and it's leaking over here.
EDIT: If anybody's defense of SE includes the above arguments, then there is no amount of logic or reason that they are going to listen to and they need to stop posting. If you want to argue that SE needed to take the gil out of the game, that's something that is reasonable and can be worked with. The way in which they have done that though is easily one of the worst ways I've seen to go about doing it.
I understand that. If people have 20-30 mil from selling potash alone then they were either on a legacy server with a completely FUBAR economy or were POS/glitching/saccing enough runs of CM/AK to completely flood a server and dominate a market. Either of those would line right up with SE whacking the shit out of someone.
@Kuishen: Retards are gonna retard and OFs are gonna OF, but anyone in this thread - on these servers - worth their salt knows that there are legitimate ways of making coin in an honest fashion. You're going to have to do a lot, however, to convince me that someone made upwards of 20 mil in a solid month on a non-legacy server.
If you're responding to newbies in here that have upwards of 15 posts, you should be ashamed. If you're responding to known idiots or trolls of BG, again, you should be ashamed.
To be fair, my RL friend has made like almost 8 mil exclusively on utterly fucking the diremite web market (so he says). He also didn't get hammered because he's been keeping all his liquid assets as allagan pieces (or he was lucky).
That way of gaining gil is even MORE viable on non-legacy servers because the demand is even higher. I see multiple people shouting to buy at any given time.
The average CM run when running with a solid group takes 20 minutes. At 55k per potash that's 165k per hour. Doing that for even a few hours a day for 20 days or so would get you large enough sums of gil to have gotten hit by the banhammer.
Am I saying anybody did this? No, but I'm saying it's possible and that people being banned for simply having more than 10mil (which was pretty much confirmed as the only criteria for the bannings) is retarded.
You like referencing what you've said in previous pages. How about referencing what I've been saying in previous pages:
If anyone who has played a previous online SE product is surprised that SE has applied a "retarded" solution to a problem, they need to stop playing SE products.
This is nothing new. Retarded (your view of it, not mine) or not, this is par the goddamn course.
I've made close to 12m & PLD friend of mine is quickly approaching 20m (both non legacy). We both didn't get hit, so there were probably other factors outside of gil total.
Funny thing is a couple of run buyers on my friends list haven't been on since the temp bans went out so I can only assume they were caught in the banwave.
I'm seriously surprised that people have so much blind faith as to complain that their friends have gotten slammed by this yet believe 100% that their friends are 100% innocent in every conceivable way simply through spoken word.
If you weren't with that friend 100% of the time you have no idea what they've done when you weren't around.
SE is foolish as hell, but I'ma trust SE over a random bunch of mad people that got whacked. Hell, I remember how many people around here swore to the moon that they weren't involved in Salvage dupes until the SSs and logs started rolling in.
Your argument predicates on the money coming from *somewhere*.
You say that it's impossibly easy to earn money, but your example isn't earning money, it's simply taking money from somewhere else in the system. You don't know where that money came from. It's not like new players are starting the game, rocketing every class to 50 and then using the gil rewards to buy your crap. They money came from *somewhere*. You don't "make money" by exchanging money with another player for goods. The money already existed.
That certainly doesn't mean the onus is upon the seller of items to know if the gil was obtained legitimately. I'm just pointing out that there's a glaring flaw in your argument.
You seem to be confused. I'm not surprised at all.
I am however going to call them out on their shit, and call out the retards defending them for making stupid decisions.
@Cutriss: It's not a flaw in my argument, I literally said that the reason that is a viable way to make money is because of the amount of gil/inflation from RMT/Gilsellers in the post you quoted. The argument was: That's because of SE's incompetence, explain how that is my fault.
This entire thing was SE making a mistake, and then making more mistakes in an attempt to fix their original mistake. None of the fault lies with the players that didn't directly buy gil or use an exploit to create gil.
You seem to be mad. I'm not surprised at this at all.
Go ahead and call out the retards here, there and everywhere. We'll make it into a little Doctor Seuss book! What does that accomplish in the grand scheme of things? Do your friends get their "honest" money back if you play internet spellchecker?
