SE's ways of handling these types of issues sure haven't, or do you have evidence to the contrary?
By calling SE, or any company out on their bullshit, I'm pretty sure the primary objective is to prevent future mistakes/bullshit of the same nature. At least that has always been the case for me. By calling out the retards who defend mistakes, I would hope that they reevaluate their life so they can stop defending bad decisions and be a productive member of society.
EDIT: Lucavi you seem to have the attitude that "Yep, that's just the way that this is, better deal with it." If everybody had that attitude then the world would be a pretty fucking terrible place. For one thing, slavery would still exist if nobody had gone "Hey, that's kinda retarded, you should stop doing that."
Apparently SE didn't divide gil that are on retainers. So the people that got hit by the ban and actually used the deposit function pretty much got away with all their gil intact, lol.
You've still provided 0 evidence that its bullshit, so in this situation, calling them out is meaningless. I'm not disagreeing with you on the overall, but you've no proof whatsoever.
You're also trolling or a fool attempting to have anyone re-evaluate their life over anything said on these forums, unless its Leroy or something... >_>
@Ezek: You can always count on SE to "fix" things halfassedly. See: Salvage duping.
Since you posted while I was typing it.
Explain to me why I need proof that they handled this situation poorly when they literally doled out the same punishment to everybody involved, regardless of innocence/degree of offense (dividing of gil by 100), WEREN'T EVEN CONSISTENT IN THE FACT THAT THEY IGNORED MONEY ON ALTS AND RETAINERS, and completely ignored everybody through customer service about the nature of their bans.
They handled this in a retarded manner and the evidence is right fucking there for everybody to see. Nobody can legitimately defend SE unless THEY come up with evidence. I don't need to come up with any evidence because it's already been provided in full by SE themselves.
EDIT: No shit that analogy was ridiculous but it was the first thing that came to mind when trying to explain why just accepting something bad for what it is instead of trying to change it is unacceptable.
It's okay guys. SE totally knows what they're doing. It's not like the pos-hacking gatherer's weren't effected by this at all right? Right?
Aaahhh, ahah, hah.
Totally forgot about that, that's another thing to add to the list of evidence pointing to the fact that they handled this in the most asinine manner possible.
This alone is reason enough to emphasize that they did nothing to fix the root causes of the issues.
As some people in these threads have caught on to, there is only one action which creates gil:
- NPCing items (duped/hacked/cheated/otherwise)
I was going to list several but they are all the same. Quest rewards? Those are NPC'ed coins. The flying-wallenda-gatherer teams likely mostly take money from everyone else, since they are AHing. Although in rough times they could just NPC whatever they gather, which makes gil.
I posted screenies of teams of 8 characters botting through all the initial crafting quests at the exact same times. That makes gil.
Any of this fixed or addressed? Nope. SE probably thinks that banning people with 60m or whatever is actually banning the supply of the gil, and I bet it's anything but. They deleted gil which had already been bought (which, of course, could be bought again). The armies that are creating gil to sell are still in full effect.
I am so tired of listening to people defend SE. You want to know how I know they don't understand their own game? There's like three Banemite camps, hell there's ONE place to mine iron ore in the whole game. Park a fucking GM at one of those spots and bring forth the banhammer. Do they do it? No, because they don't have a clue what's going on in their own game.
Hey, that's pretty retarded, they shouldn't do that.
Let's all quit the game and send them hate mail. They'll surely do something then, right?
Actually, no. Since the JP players are not going to be canceling their subscriptions over this, and most Legacy players are unaffected as well and will thus not be doing anything either, that means one thing: SE most likely does not give a single fuck if any of you quit the game over this.
Went from 10M to 100k. 6M of that came from selling random stuff for 10~50k profit for weeks by staying ahead of the curve and logging off with 40/40 retainers every day. STF apparently doesn't care (or, more likely, isn't actually capable of parsing trade/auction logs properly), that's all gone too.
I still want to play the game, but at this point it's more worth my time to wait for new servers to open and re-start there than to bother doing all that shit again on a server where prices have already settled.
I am pretty sure they fixed the problem (so far, at least). Gil is only getting more expensive by the day since the bans. Before the bans gil was getting cheaper by the day. If the sellers are still able to create gil at the rates they were before, the spike in gil prices would have begun to decline by now.
The arguments here seem to be "SE does dumb shit" and "You have no proof that SE does dumb shit."
Does anyone else here see how ridiculous this thread has become?
I kind of wish they did something similar with the great christmas inflation of 2005(?) in XI but they let it be and I got royally fucked in the process.
What they did(n't) do back then is the completely opposite to how much they're fighting off RMT today, and I can't say I feel like I'm getting royally fucked this time.
This thread has become a mix of SE dick sucking and SE bashing. So basically a normal thread.
So far the only people complaining are the people who got banned and/or who's "friend" got banned ().
SE's recent bans aren't a magic fix. No shit. The purpose was to remove contraband gil from the game and tie up whatever exploits were creating mass gil. Mission accomplished. (shard bots are selling the shards, taking gil from players, not creating it. Still a problem, but these bans didn't address that issue.)
They didn't tie up shit. They did exactly what I'd expect from a company who always nerfed legitimate methods of farming instead of banning RMT who used the method 24/7.
