This round of bans must have been pretty successful because gil prices look to have tripled overnight from the shouts I am seeing. 1 million gil used to be like $8 just the other night, but now it's $25.

What I meant is a system like GW2's where if you sign into the game from an unregistered IP on your account you'll be sent an email with a link in order to verify it. Once you verify that IP for the account you're good to go.

TERA had that, other games i've played have just monitored IPs at times and if they saw your account log in from CA, China, Russia and then NY within 3 days they figured something was amiss.

FYI the IP change PW restriction is still in place if you do not have an authenticator attached.

Friend of mine and my fiancee both had to deal with it and it was the impetus of them buying/installing authenticators. Just to get away from that annoyance.

So the guy that deals with our Titan customers has started to take potashes as a type of payment. I warned him about what's going on right now but he has chosen to ignore me. This has b@nt written all over it. I will be pissed if I am banned because he's handing out the gil made by the potashes.

I read on Reddit that some RMT are pos hacking through AK to farm Philosophy and then turning it Potash to sell for their income. I guess there's a chance it's complete bullshit but the way SE are sweep banning right now I wouldn't take any risks, it all seems to have connections with large amounts of gil and those items.

There must be some weird shenanigans going on here then. It used to make me change my PW all the time in 1.0 just for letting someone log into my XI account and then trying to play XIV even days later.

Since ARR it hasn't prompted me to change my PW once despite playing in the UK when visiting family and then playing in the US when I got home so a very obvious change in IP address.

And I don't have the authenticator.

Yes, but is it enough? There's only one sure-fire way to get all of the RMTs. That's to ban everybody on all servers. It's the only way to be sure. Lets make it happen SE.

Honestly though, how difficult would it be to assign a GM to monitor 3 cities shout chat across 4-5 servers? It only takes me a couple of seconds to blist all of them when I zone in. Anybody with two neurons to bang together can figure out who's RMT spamming and can mute/gaol/ban them as fast as we can blacklist them. They could probably still take regular GM calls while they do it too.

Apparently, even though "Customer Service Specialist Daniel" told me on Friday that the 72 hour suspension started on Saturday at JP midnight (10AM EST) it ACTUALLY doesn't start until weekdays. So even though we were banned, and the timer on our subscriptions was ticking down, the ACTUAL suspension didn't start until Monday. People are saying it'll be no less than October 4th now (not October 1st as "Customer Service Specialist Daniel" had told me).

Someone from our FC who'd taken some VERY big tips from whoring Titan HM got suspended too. Pretty obvious where sums of gil that big originated from though. These were people that were fully decked out in DL, clearly had milions and millions of gil, but were unable to clear content. Not hard to put 2 and 2 together.

People like the above, and RMT holding accounts would have been the targets. Seems they took down some of the 1% too, they must hate America.

Friend who got temp-banned made a bulk of their cash through selling HQ Vanya gear and what not due to having multiple 50 crafting classes.

Totes sold shit to RMT for sure.

TBH, these bans were about as stupid as the Guild Wars 2 Karma bans way back when. Just ugh. :< I feel bad for people who got hit and have to wait until the 4th.

If you spammed AK speed runs, you would have a good sum of tomes regardless. Tomes translate into gil or DL. DL explains DL. Gil explains gil. The origins of the gil isn't necessarily RMT either since early crafters profited from relic synths (150k per for some).
