Except that is not how it works and you know it.
We experienced the same problem in 11. I can't post a link, but google search Special Task Force Report (12/24/2008) and see for yourself.
We sold drops from HNMs for large amounts, some people who were gil buyers purchased the drops, money transfers to linkshell bank, and then linkshell bank gets flagged and automatically suspended. After STF review the linkshell bank gets unbanned.
The link I posed has a nice chart that details how it works nicely.
Not everyone with lots of gil got banned, it depends on what market you were in. Once the STF reviews the logs you'll get your account back and all the gil assuming you did not knowingly engage in RMT.
The ban wave had to happen sooner than anticipated also due to the fact that a large amount of gil was created via exploit, and that also has to be pulled apart and addressed.
Gilsellers on my server are already charging over 5 times more than they were last week, so this ban wave did hit and hurt real rmt. The minor inconvenience anyone suffers from the temp ban is well worth it in the long run.
What you all need to do is buy a carwash to hide yo gils.
Lol ... or bury it in the Thanalan desert
Well, less than 24 hours later and I've been vindicated. Seems my comments weren't quite as idiotic as they were framed to be.
Also called the "deflation" BS for what it was. People whining about repair costs.
Anyway, big /golfclap for SE.
Zoinks!

Spoiler: show
There is nothing lazy or accidental about it, you just don't understand the process or what really went on.
You're not being punished either, you just can't play a week. Go outside, read a book, catch up on a show you've missed, see how your family and friends are doing, or do whatever you want.
Just stop whining, you'll live longer.
Reports coming in: Square-Enix fucked everyone, guilty or not. If you got your account back it will have 1/100th of the gil you had on it (so if you had 10million, you now have 100k). If true when NA accounts come back at midnight PST, I'm out.
I hope some of the rabid mouth-breathers who screamed that EVERYONE were guilty are caught up in the next wave. I can't wait to read it when it happens to you.
Well, it won't happen to me, for certain. I have nowhere near that much cash.

I don't know for sure if this would be a Yoshi-P call, or over his head, or what the situation is, but IMO it's the first true black mark when it comes to ARR. While I'm thankful it didn't impact me directly, I'm not likely to forget this anytime soon, either.
