Well, suspension finally lifted. I went from 1.5M to 50K, glad I didn't actually attempt to make gil; still unbelievable how shit SE and their support is.
Edit: Appears everyone I know who was suspended and is on is currently at 50K, on Famfrit.

According to reddit and official forums people unbanned had their gil divided by 100. Ouch.
I think the amount of gil you have is irrelevant in this and they are flagging people who obtained a lot of gil from gil buyers or those who bought gil themselves. I guess this is the risk with pricing your products so high that people feel they have to buy gil to afford them. Glad I've not had time to prepare my crafting classes yet or I'd have been in there too. I don't even think I'll bother with crafting after reading this thread and just live off my 1.0 gil.
Yep, I'm out. The 1/100th applies to everyone it seems. I had 10.6 million when I was blanket suspended, now I'm at 106k. Way to weed out the hardcores S-E.
gg SE
What? No.

That also applies to anybody even remotely trying to defend this. It didn't affect me personally but this is downright retarded. The person who OK'd this decision is literally mentally impaired, because anybody who is in possession of 100% of their mental faculties cannot be that goddamn stupid.
I mean this is probably one of the most ridiculous MMO disciplinary maneuvers I've ever seen, but this is coming from the company who brought you Salvage bans
So Dawn Drops were ok, but Potash is where they draw the line.
LOL se.... blows my mind that they couldn't design their ecconomy around this shit yet. I've never payed WoW, but isn't RMT basically accepted there? 2013, 2nd chance, still screwing their customers over
It's almost as if all that gil didn't actually exist in the first place...
Not that they've played it well, at all, it's unfortunate. However, I don't think a lot of people actually give SE enough credit for knowing WTF is going on in their own game (granted, they missed the exploit). I'd be surprised if the amount removed isn't pretty close to what they found had been generated from exploits. It had to be removed from somewhere, and it doesn't seem like they found enough of it on the known RMT side of the equation. Some people will be quite happy playing on in the knowledge that a lot of what they had might not have been legitimate, others might not ever come to grips with that fact.
You're eithering hard or don't know how to properly convey your stance because nothing in your original post implied what you just said.
My previous statement stands. All you high income earners need to hide your money in a 3rd party resource that is liquid and stable in price. I think Allagan coin pieces would be a good place to go and with a 10% markup sounds probably legitimate over the risk of losing 1/100th...
I thought the fact I'm against it was conveyed by the last sentence where I'm thinking about avoiding the high end crafting market. Why would I be supportive of something that puts me off crafting? I was a hardcore crafter in 1.0 where I made "mad gil" and had they done this there I'd almost certainly have been fucked over. I don't want to risk losing that as well as whatever fresh gil I could get.
I had 100k when I hit 50 and like, half that a week later when I quit.
66 millions lol.
That being said, banning people solely on the basis of how much in-game currency they own is pants-on-head retarded even by SE standards.
Apparently gil left on retainers missed the cut for some (most?) people, may be prudent to leave most of your cash there going forward.
Can't say for all servers since mine is a bit different being one of the italian ones but I'll give my direct experience(btw before we got to the opening of italian realms we basically took over one which was 100% italian, so point still kinda there)
I basically never see rmt spam, it's damn rare and the right click report puts them in a special blacklist and then after a few reports but them muted, generally gms ban them in a couple minutes at best, might be for the low volume on my server. The real thing here is something as you said, rmt is not exactly accepted but the economy is largely inflated anyway, gold is easy to make, and there's nothing extremely needed, they had to add some HUGE gold sinks since no one knew wtf to do with money.
It might be considered bad for some but there's something they do perfectly: if they don't know how you got the money/can't prove it, they don't ban the crafters/sellers. I generally move between 200-300k gold A DAY, when in full force, since I enjoy playing the ah, I don't give a fuck who I seel to, and where the money comes, and neither does blizzard usually. Sure if they get you engaging in rmt/dupes you get instabanned and the gold vanishes and they track as many as they can, but I've never heard of people getting suspended to come back with 0 gold, it might've happened and I'm not aware of it but I find it HARD to believe. Also generally their support is spot on on these matters and you get gms in game before so while there surely are false positives I think they're rare enough to be a non-issue generally. I mean rmt in wow atleast on my server is not really a issue, in 9 years of playing I can't remember of a story retarded as this.
The morons who are defending square enix because "the money had to be removed" are the most hilarious ones, so basically the thinking is that "you have to sell lower because you FORCE PEOPLE TO rmt" what is this kind of joke? Or that the money has to be removed, sure, the money on rmts or who bought, not the money who got on legit crafters that couldn't know where the fuck it came.
How the hell are people supposed to know? "but you can imagine that on non legacy anything that sells for X is rmt!!111oneone" dafuq is this shit, I can't even start to explain how retarded it is...I sold shit on wow that was worthless for outrageous amounts of gold just because people had plenty of time and were retarded enough to buy it, so I should be banned I guess. I don't think people can be really that stupid I just hope it's a trollfest of sadist people who enjoy others being deprived of their accounts just because they're envious.
Pretty shitty they haven't even addressed that they wrongfully banned people. They're literally just gonna let this one ride I guess.
Glad I'm not rich as fuck, else I'd be so fucking pissed right now.
I thought most of you guys were against the 1%ers.
