To be completely honest I missed the first period driving home from work. And then started watching the second, which started promising, but when they scored back to back to back goals in such quick succession, I stopped watching all together ._.

Patrick Kaleta gets 10 games due to his repeated offenses. He was fined/suspended a total of 6 times in the last four years. That's Matt Cooke level shenanigans. John Scott has never once been suspended during his entire NHL career. If Scott gets more than 10 games it's essentially demonstrating that the NHL hands out discipline arbitrarily. Not that that's something we didn't already know. But if you slap Scott with a suspension that is equal to or greater than Kaleta's punishment it immediately throws out everything Shanahan has said about taking a player's past actions into account.

Scott deserves a suspension without a doubt. It was a dirty as fuck hit. But if you Boston fans are expecting a 10+ game suspension I don't think it's going to happen. I will agree with Izzy though. The crying of the Bruins fans about someone pulling some douchebaggery on them is the epitome of the pot and the kettle.

I'll be surprised if Scott gets more than 5. By some miracle he's never been suspended before (but he's played less than 90 games in the league I think so) so more than five for basically the same hit that Garbutt got 5 for would be weird, even if they take into consideration the Maple Leafs/Sabres shenanigans.

I think we will be seeing a lot of 5 game suspensions this year, as I believe that 5 gamers cant go to arb, and the PA really would like to see how that goes, so I'm sure the league won't go above 5 often unless they have serious grounds.

1) Scott hasn't even historically gotten enough minutes to have the time to deliver dirty hits, and 2) while he's not particularly talented usually he does try to play in earnest and is more of a forecheck grinder than a guy who is going to go out and try to level people. Usually he's just trying to keep the puck in the offensive zone while the top lines rest rather than trying to lay people out.

I don't think anyone is really attempting to defend the actual hit, but the guy is not some sort of career injurious hitter like Cooke was or Kaleta is, he just made one really, really dumb terrible play.

Chara almost took off Squirtle's head last night just because he got too close to the net after the whistle. He could've handled it better and definitely should've gotten a call for cross-checking. Surprised nobody (except Nynja, per usual) is moaning about that.

Sorry yes, I know it goes to Bettman first, but I believe they have the option to go to a 3rd party afterwards, if they still dont like the ruling by Bettman.
