I don't have any issues with bikers / cyclists on the road as long as they follow the rules. This rally was def, hogging the road, but what are you to do as a driver. The dude in the SUV didn't need to plow over the bikers. Straight up idiots on both sides.

Police have said they don't chase dirt bike and motorcycle riders because it encourages reckless riding that endangers the public. Instead, they have taken to raiding the locations where the bikes are kept. Some riders say police have even begun using netting to ensnare riders.

Well, the police has been giving them a free pass...no wonder why they feel like they own the road!

Cutting off and break checking to create a confrontation, then attempting to assault the drive creates a situation of immediate distress that completely justified the SUV driver's actions.

Perhaps not, but in that situation with your family in the car and that many [hostile] bikers having you surrounded... would you just sit pretty in the car and take it?

We already know the biker isn't exactly a reasonable person, not like you could depend on talking them down. Mob mentality is also scary by itself.

We don't know if the biker did it on on purpose. Even if he did, the SUV should have never been that close.

The SUV driver had limited options. Maybe plowing a few bikers was his best option after the original incident. However he should have never put himself in that situation in the first place. Should have given the bikers way more space.

Even if they weren't all "hostile," as soon as one gets heated there is bound to be at least one more. It was already said that in that minute or so they had him stopped the first time his tire was slashed. This was after the SUV driver got brake checked by the one rider. He didn't do anything wrong at this point other than tap the back wheel at low speed of a guy that just cut him off.

Tap back wheel leads to slashed tires which then goes to him getting dragged out anyway surrounded by 20-30 guys. Mob mentality and all that. I don't care if they were cyclists that surrounded my car like that. If you have 20-30 guys around your car with your family inside threatening you, you don't really have time to wait for the police.

Where he fucked up was when he went into the neighborhood. He should have tried to make it across the George Washington Bridge and to the gas station or toll plaza on the other side. There's also a police station a few miles up north from there.

There was no option for him. They came up behind him, immediately he was cut off (you can see the same guy riding the lane line directly next to him) and brake checked. There was no time to "give them room" unless he slammed on his brakes which may have ended up with some guys rear ending them.

Did you even watch the video? The biker clearly cut him off and then braked in front of him for no good reason, ON THE FREEWAY, which they were attempting to shut down.

Defensive driving people. His actions of Plotinus through is justified. Especially if his tires and family danger.

It's not like the SUV driver sped up and caught up with the motorcycle who then applied its breaks -- the motorcyclist cut him off and then hit its breaks. It's not exactly immediately, but there's only around 3 seconds from when the motorcycle cuts him off and then they bump.

It seems to me like whatever spurred the confrontation occurred before the camera was rolling or that it was unprovoked. It's hard to fault the SUV driver for not giving them more space if they're legitimately trying to force him to stop and confront him (it seems clear to me that's what's going on in the video, hence the brake check.) I feel no sympathy for the bikers. Their behavior is nothing short of mob mentality. They all deserve jail time.
