have people found the middle + north/south route easier for divebombs than the original pit BG used for dodging?

We tried that once early on in our runs and decided it wasn't worth it. The pit gives everyone an exact place to run to, and the terrain makes it so twin's movement is predictable and AoE is the smallest. It also affords you the opportunity to use your own ground effect AoE on the snakes for longer, as you aren't dragging them all over the arena while dodging. Overall, being much more forgiving and easier to use made it easily the best choice for our group.
This is my exact macro for snakes phase to make sure everyone is in place and ready for the mark to appear on the second set. I hit the macro as soon as first divebomb mark appears in the first set.
/p Second set in 60 seconds!
/wait 43
/p 20 seconds! <se.10>
/wait 10
/p 10 seconds! <se.7>
I'm all for the pit. I place fairy a short ways out to serve as a benchmark for "you only have to move this far", and so she doesn't get punted into the walls trying to follow me. Works very well.
Every timer for you:
45 seconds after the first set for dive bombs.
60 seconds after the second set of dive bombs.
Spoiler: show
Death Sentence is every 30 seconds after the cast finishes.
Twister is every 20-30 seconds. (Averages more towards 25-30 but can go as low as 20)
Spoiler: show
Liquid Hell gets a break of 10 seconds between each set of 6.
Enrage is 13 minutes.
Going into my first Twintania attempt tomorrow w/ my static.
Been reading the last few pages of this thread, seeing what eanae posted is making me curious and i want to get this app to work, any specific instructions on what to do to install the .dll file?
I am getting mighty frustrated with dive bombs on PS3... it just doesn't show up for me and when it does it's lagging, so unless I reactively try and avoid it based on memory, I get hit.
How viable is solo tanking Twintania with a PLD? One of our tanks got the monk weapon this week and we're thinking of having him DPS turn 5 next reset (x2 BRD/DRG/MNK/BLM as DPS). We already single tank turns 1-4 so being able to do the entire instance with 1 tank would be nice.
We already keep one of our PLDs on Twintania with zero swaps after Dive Bomb phase, so I assume the hardest part will be the beginning with the scourges.
I see no reason it wouldn't be viable. Godly healers obviously helps but if you can solo tank 1-4 you probably have that down.
*Don't take my word for it. My group hasn't cleared T5 yet, but the way we go about it the only thing the offtank really does is tank the 3 adds in the beginning. Otherwise we have only have 1 tanking anything in a given phase, other is only there backup or ideally Dreadknight stun.
Does no one remember the video posted the week after twintania was being killed by everyone? Someone solo tanked twin very quickly after it was being downed.
I'm not sure this was it. It says world 1st. But it is a single tanked twintania.
people have done it, so yeah it is viable.
It's viable yeah, but /effort.
My group switched to single tank strat after our OT AWOLed for a week after we did 1-4. We were finally making it to Twisters consistently after making the switch so we grabbed a body from FC and gave it a go. The healers said they actually preferred it to 2 tanks, so when he showed up again we made him come on his DL brd (LNC10 so no cross class). We killed it w/ this set up (PLD BRD x3 SCH WHM MNK BLM) ~2 evenings of attempts later after struggling for a little over a week even getting to Twister phase consistently. Ideally obviously you'll want real DPS instead of a gimp bard, but w/e works.
The strat is completely viable but you need a lot of HP (I think the world first was like 6.7k and I'm almost 6.9k) and possibly Hallowed Ground @ pull until your healers are used to it.
The strat is otherwise same as the BG vid / most kills. Don't run into conflags so death sentence keeps building limit break at smoother portions of the fight the healers will also try for getting the crit heal LB multiplier (i.e. basically after 2 adds are dead and before first neurolink drop). If you're unaware of this bonus, basically healing a tank after they hit <10%HP triggers a crazy LB refresh effect. If you go this route you will get a lot of RNG deaths until your healers are used to it and you resist the impulse to pop cooldowns when you think you're going to die without one. Even without a crit heal LB multiplier, the pull alone will nearly fill 1 LB bar. For phase 1 instead of the whole group focus firing each one down, the brds/blm aoe while the MNK focus fires each Scourge since flash spam wouldnt keep hate otherwise. For Death Sentence after neurolink drop, my healers will adloqium/SS me but I don't use cooldowns unless one of them is in conflag. For divebombs, kill 1 Hygeia at pull, kill the rest after LB2-3. We use pots to be safe at Asclepius for reasons I get into in the next paragraph. For final phase our MNK just stands in the neurolink and eats the eggs for the group.
The trickiest parts are going to be RNG during pull (i.e. 2 liquid hells on you + death sentence simultaneously), your DPS getting used to Twintania's Plummets so they dont eat them at pull, killing Asclepius (has to be dead before Aetherial Profusion goes off or you'll need to blow Hallowed here if it isn't because Wild Rattle + Twin auto attack after Aetherial Profusion will kill you.) and Death Sentences during Twister phase if you're busy focusing on stunning a dreadknight. I think 2 bards are a necessity for this strat though because one of them will need to have Paeon up or the tank will be out of TP by the 2nd or 3rd dreadknight while the other one can do utility FR/Ballad as your mages need.
It's a lot rougher on the tank during pull and dreadknight phase (we hit a bit of a wall here with the FC pick ups since I wasn't used to how much was going on for me between finally using cooldowns for Death Sentence, Twisters, positioning for Dreadknights and stunning them and needing to rely on focus target to track 2 of those things) but it makes Conflag phase and killing Dreadknights a joke if your groups DPS would otherwise be an issue. If you have the same problem I did initially w/ the new overload of stuff to do during Twister phase working event alerts help a lot instead of needing to watch the focus target, your HP / cooldown availability and stun debuff icon on the dreadknight.
TL;DR like Eanae said, it's a fuckton more effort on the tank's part, but ultimately if your tank is geared for it and you're having DPS issues, it's worth a shot because just like Titan, this is a fight that can be one tanked despite SE intending 2 tanks 4 dps 2 heals like w/e every fight they implement.
Has anyone had any success dodging Divebombs in this way?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...NXgvf8I#t=1584
I have a lot of trouble dodging from the divot because of the PS3 graphic lag so I'm looking for solutions. (Basically, in order to dodge Divebombs 100% I have to start moving BEFORE the green circle ever appears. Doing this in the divot with the rest of the group is dangerous because if I get tagged while I'm on my way out of the divot it could MPK the group.)
The potential solution I'm looking at here is letting the rest of my group use the divot as usual, while I move up and down the hill like the group in the video. My thinking is that this allows me room to preempt the divebomb by running early like they do while not endangering the rest of my group. The problem is that I'm not sure if my positioning will enable Twintania to hit the rest of the group in the divot when she divebombs on me. From looking at the way she's coming down in the video I think it would be safe but I guess I won't know for sure until I try it. Any thoughts?
If you do that method like on the opposite end of the arena somehow, maybe. I can't say for certain if you'd hit other people going any closer. We've been hit in the pit by someone being a little too far out of it in our learning phases. It looks frightening to do as a group but I probably don't have that much trust in mine to coordinate that well haha.
First divebomb of the set "should" be the only one you have to "react" to. The following 2 "should" be muscle memory. I don't wait for the marker anymore for those 2. I do a slow count in my head to 3 after the previous divebomb "whooshes" and then run out/in. Or if it's the 2nd set, I'm usually spamming heals on snake-tank so I get one heal out, one heal in, not even one more in before dodge usually.
I have heard awful things about the PS3 displaying Twintania markers so I'm not surprised you have trouble. That said, opposite of Seravi I still manually react to each marker. I sorta guess when it's coming but I still wait for the thing (we also have people calling shit out over voice chat just in case you forget, but that can be deadly if someone messes up and tries to call out based on their count and their count is off and then you run out early and everything is ruined)
tl;dr we did try the Mrhappy method and had no luck so returned to the BG-pit. while learning we did have those slow people (like myself) stand some distance away and pop it in another area so if they fucked up they only killed themselves at worst
