There's a second pit directly to the right of the main one that we use when someone gets hit and needs a place to run back to. You could have him be solo in that pit.

    1) Never stop DPS
    2) If conflag/fireball is not synced, treat every conflag like a fast conflag unless certain otherwise
    3) Whatever your method of soaking fireballs, position your fireball target, soak zone, and conflag zone such that when the fireball hits, it is 100% either soaked or fed into conflag--think venn diagram
    4) Top off recent fireball/conflag victims immediately
    5) Did I say never stop DPS? I meant stop DPS if it looks like you'll push her past 55% during a conflag. Wait until after conflag is taken care of.

Hmmm, I wouldn't have thought of that. I don't pay close enough attention to the timing of DS in relation to conflags since I'm neither a healer nor tank and I stopped streaming. We usually have our tank run in on all slow conflags, and stay out attacking on fasts. The annoyance that I hate when we phase transition that way is that sometimes the first conflag turns into a fast with the 'reset' fireball going off right after the conflag would have exploded. So if we treat it as a slow and it blows then we lost two people and possibly the tank.

I'll probably have us try saying fuck timing the transition of p1->p2, and just assume first conflag is slow. Probably result in less wipes overall.

That's a good idea.. My full battle chatlog feels completely useless anyway since it's impossible to scroll back up and find anything useful. Wish you could group chat logs with not the main, I'd like to have two groups of two. Or that you could temporarily maximize a chat log and use arrow left/right to page up and down. I miss XI's chat log.

Easy. We had a bard eat eggs last week and it was fine, even less reason to take an off-tank.

Also, one of our ps3 members has trouble dodging the divebombs so I was thinking about giving him his own special little place. Where are some spots on the map I could put him if we're all in the standard dip crevice thing?
Your group just needs to learn to adapt to the different timings of conflag phase and push through it regardless of trying to sync it; it should be pretty obvious when you need to run a fireball in (also need to be careful about letting Twin eat the fireball before killing the conflag if your group's DPS is good depending on the timing; my group has had to hold up on conflags to let it be eaten a number of times.)There's really only about 3 different patterns you can see regardless of timing. The most common one for us is having 2 fireball feeds (One of them usually popping at exactly the same time as conflag) > no feed > feed.

Viable and essentially equivalent to MT/OT. Shifts challenge from damage checks to healers keeping up the single tank during opening pull and snake phase. A 30 STR OT in str accessories brings the best of both worlds. Additional debuff if you run PLD/WAR, 75% DPS of a DPS class, able to aggressively spam defensive CDs for snakes/first pull/liquid hells, dedicated #2 on threat for DK stun duty, can stay in neurolink through liquid hell in tanking stance (a DPS class in the neurolink is essentially neutered DPS anyway).

For some reason it feels conflags got easier when we stopped trying to time the p1->p2 transition and just went balls to the wall lol. Always waiting for conflag right before pushing p2->p3 instead of trying to push it over in time helped that transition a lot-- when the ffxivapp widget didn't lock up and freeze HP%s. Looks like the tank finally grasped the correct timing for grabbing the second set of snakes asap. And the healers finally listened and stacked inside the snakes, so the LB went off much faster.

Finally made it to phase 4 correctly*, took five after the wipe, and then someone passed out and we couldn't find anyone else so we called it. I swear if we were able to spend more than 1-2hr a week max on t5 we could have downed this weeks ago. (First day we can get together for 1-4 is Thursday, if I didn't have us start doing t5 with 7/8 or 6/8 members we'd probably still be working out how to properly do snakes.)

    Spoiler: show
*: Somehow our offtank's neurolink debuff went off->on with like 0.2 seconds in between, which was perfectly timed to cause him to eat full damage from astral flow (whatever). Slight panic as everybody dodges twister and gets into positions for the first time. Dreadnaught spawns and kills 2 people and twisters finishes everyone off lol.

Getting past the snakes cleanly is the hardest part. Once you got that, you got a win coming very soon. It is just a matter of time.

Bravo for having the healers stand inside the snakes, I always got yelled at for doing it but it is the right thing to do.

This is like the worst advice ever for people learning the fight.

Use HP trackers and special chat logs with just enemy moves(if needed) and stop DPS to sync things up and make it easier. For #3, wat. We group up two groups of 4 on each side, so nobody really has to move. Our Monk does his own thing and then stays on us with it's our fireball time and we each move slightly after fireball so we can see conflag markers better and move to the middle. If people can't react and move into the middle when conflag pops, they seriously fail. It's pretty easy to sync conflags.

I'd say only if you need the extra DPS to be able to do it in the first place. If you're killing it comfortably with 2 tanks then there isn't really a point besides finishing the fight a minute earlier. That and shit sometimes happens and you can always salvage a win with a backup tank.

I'd say 1 tanks will be better at 2.2, cua ATM I don't care about saving 2-3 minutes cuz I can only do it once per week, but when we can actually farm it, saving time will be better imo

If you have an Allagan Axe WAR as OT I don't think it really matters one way or another. Most of the time they're just basically going to be another DPS except during snakes / DK.

    WAR Main Tank Issue?

For some reason, our group (me particularly as the WAR MT) had such terrible RNG luck with Twin last night. I was getting DESTROYED by Death Sentences over and over. As high as 7.9k damage on one. Is this normal? I've MTd before and never got hit that hard by DS but yesterday it seemed to be consistently hitting me for 5-7k+.

Before "lol you're bad", I am i87 on WAR and have tanked Twin before. Granted, our group hasn't gotten past divebombs but we are just still learning. Me getting torn apart was never an issue in our previous progression runs. We switched it up and had our i83 PLD OT main tank it and he seemed to do better.

My lodestone is currently on BLM so I can't show you my WAR but its set up like this:

    Dual Haken
Myth Head, Body, Hands, Legs, Feet
    DL Belt
    Ultima Choker, Hero's Bracelet
Tremor Earrings, Vortex Ring, Hero's Ring.

I was making every attempt to rotate cooldowns and keep Inner Beast up for Death Sentences. Any input here?

7.9k sounds like Inner Beast wasn't up, but I'm not our coil group's tank, so I can't really input much beyond that. Are you keeping Storm's Path up? Is your offtank a PLD or a WAR? If it's a WAR, they should be doing the Storm's Path bit, and if it's a PLD, they need to keep the Rage of Halone STR debuff up.

Roll your cds, always have inner beast on for DS. Healers should be helping you out with Adlo and Stoneskin whenever applicable. DS is really not that difficult to handle, just sounds like poor support mixed with possible bad IB timings and shitty rng on parry here and there.

Also make sure you put up your IB a couple seconds before DS drops, cus of shit latency sometimes, if you put up IB during the DS cast it does not read it as up. During twisters when its hard to time you will just need to sit and wait sometimes to activate it as soon as you see it cast. During conflags it should be easy. When you know ur not gonna get IB up in time cus of GCD, pop thrill or vengeance.

Yup - was keeping Path up for the most part. Our OT is a PLD so I need to ask him to make sure to keep up the Halone debuff- pretty sure we didn't have that going.

I was trying to let our SCH know when to get adlo up but he had some trouble getting the timing right so I guess that didn't help either. Gonna take all the advice here and see how it goes on our next prog run. Thanks for the comments.
