Casting Sleep does build the gauge directly, long time ago in a Titan HM group that wanted to build 1 bar before going past the first phase (orz) they asked the BLM to cast it, with each cast you could see the bar tic up.

Whether it works for all fights I have no idea.

    This is next level. Beautiful.

Edit: I wonder if this is easier or harder with Holmgang.

Haven't tried it with Holmgang, but I would imagine it works similar, maybe slightly more difficult because the duration is lower

I'm flat out not able to hear the in-game ding for divebombs because the sound of the battle is too loud. Is there anyway to remedy this hearing issue? A DBM is out of the question atm.

The sound settings let you adjust the volume of different elements.

I'll specify, the ding from the divebomb indicator is muffled by the sound of the battle. These are both technically sound effects. Is there anyway to specifically turn the sounds of my party member's sound effects off to hear this better?

Edit: skipped over the player effects volume, section. Will test it out tomorrow. Thanks.

You might adjust the hearing position to be closer to your character rather than the camera. Will make everything louder to an extent, but should put the divebomb ping at a bit higher priority.

For me, sometimes the sounds just don't play period--luckily the sign still shows up though.

If you're fighting all snakes in the pit between divebomb sets, I find whatever sound the snakes make drowns out the divebomb sound regardless of volume settings used.

I don't really have a problem with hearing the beeps while tanking the snakes in the pit, but my volume is usually floored for everyone on Mumble's sake so I just use the indicator.

I don't even use sound, the indicators are so massive they've always been more than enough for me.

By the time the indicator pops, it is already too late for me. I just tacked a stopwatch near my monitor, worked great.

Need some help here, I've seen a bunch of vids and guides and been following this thread but I admit I haven't read all of it.

My group has been stuck on the big snake for a bit now, mostly because our tanks keep dying. We've had a few shots where tanking would be fine but ended up short on dps.
The tanks die because after the small snakes die they usually both have 2-4 stacks and healing them is unbearable.

I've read about how the MT needs to be positioned so no stacks would hit him (but Im not sure how), so we tried to do a tank swap where the OT would be holding all 5 as LB goes off and MT stays clear from it,
but then the OT ends up dead.

How are you guys managing this phase?

2xPLD, 2xWAR, or PLD/WAR? And if last, which one is MT/OT?

    PLD/WAR, WAR is MT

Our tanks don't bother dodging stacks. MT (PLD) holds big+2 smalls until 2nd divebombs are over then drags them to mid. OT (WAR) grabs the far 2 smalls. 1 of our BRDs tosses one round of DoTs on the first 2 smalls but otherwise all DPS on big snake until after 2nd divebombs. LB2 is enough to kill those first 2 smalls usually afterwards. Other 2 die quick, then big dies quick. I dunno which parts of this our tanks pop cooldowns for offhand, if they do, but PLD doesn't typically blow his Hallowed here.

Dunno what to say about healing, haven't had issues healing 4stack (or 2stack MT, 2 stack OT on other 2 snakes simultaneously for a few seconds) in months. Whatever our WHM does it's allowing me to slack off for a sec when it's down to just big snake, letting me put Stoneskin on anyone who might be weak or have late stacks (for whatever reasons) or put Succor on before profusion. So it's not like we're completely curebombing. The first round of hits in the entire snake phase (big +2 littles + some double attacks in there) is the worst part of the whole phase to heal, imo.

You could do what our group does then, if it helps. Our WAR becomes the MT starting at divebomb phase. We have him grab the big snake while the pld grabs the small snakes. The PLD pops pretty much all his available cooldowns except for hallowed as he gets into position after grabbing the second set of snakes. LB hits, small snakes die/get finished off, we all focus the big snake.

You want to position them in a sort of line. Like it would be: [WAR><S PLD], where the pld is surrounded by small snakes. Our warrior runs into the group of small snakes, and then doubles back through the big snake to try and get it just right.

Sometimes the warrior still ends up getting 2 stacks or something, but your healers should be prepared to heal through it. Healing focus is usually on the pld OT until those mini snakes die.

I streamed our last t5 go on my brd if you want to try and gleam exactly what we do. Might help understand the positioning stuff. http://www.twitch.tv/deadgye/b/509350883 It was the scholars first time getting past divebombs so we wiped two or three times iirc. 9m and ~23m in have a good shot of them positioning.

Im the sch her, and to me the big snake + 2 small is the easiest part, even during the divebombs. However, once Lb3 hits and tanks have so many stacks on them it because ridiculuos. I haven't spammed heal like this since my Darklight caduceus days, and we still end up with people dead.

This is what Im looking for I think, I wasn't sure what's the safe distance and if having them lined up like that would work.

One more question, you both said PLD OT wouldnt use his HG at that point, why though? What would he be saving it for?

"Just in case" is basically it, though I think solo tank setups sometimes pop it in the beginning of the fight? Could just pop it there if that phase is giving you trouble.

We save it for if the pld gets liquid hells on him during phase 5. Our group actually has more trouble dieing to balls than we do dieing to twisters lol. We used to have the pld just pop hallowed right after he got into position. Then we had a Sunday where we spent 6 hours in turn 5, dieing multiple times during phase 5 because of the stupidest rng bullshit.

In the killing attempt in that video link, it actually happens again. First set of liquid hells on the OT. He moves away, pops cooldowns and moves back in. Then second set of liquid hells on the OT again. He pops hallowed and we don't get completely fucked over.

For people who aren't complete wizards at the fight already, the MT avoids stacks by, as Deadgye has said, keeping the big snake in between him and the little snakes. Easiest way to do this is to have the OT put himself on the opposite side of the big snake as the MT. OT is free to and encouraged to blow whatever defensive cooldowns.

Think of the little snakes explosion-spreading debuff as Bane and you're on the right track.
