I'm surprised that they really don't have a check in game that looks for it and simply draws the target to them if they can't attack.

We make our offtank purposely not be #2 on the list until Dreadknights. Better to have him get fireballs + conflags so it leaves the DD and Healers free to do their thing.
As for the POS Twintania thing, there was a thread on the OF about this a couple months ago but it never really got too big even though screenshots were provided where most of the names were blurred but not all. However, the names that were visible in the screenshots seemed to have been banned because their lodestone profiles were missing a couple days later.
edit: seems the thread I was talking about is where the video was linked.
To me, world first means two things:
1. Bragging rights to the group that did it (which amount to zero value in truth.)
2. Prove to the rest of the game that it is possible.
World First has some weight IMO, even if it's just so other people go, "Those dudes are hella good at vidya games."
I think most people would agree the accomplishment has value in its own right. I think when people start doing things like: "World First Twintania all ps3" then it starts to get a bit silly.
Finally, finally took down Twin today with most of my static present. Better late than echoed!
In my opinion, World's First only matters when it takes more than a month after release to do it. World's first Twin is a hell of an accomplishment, World's First Titan extreme, not so much. Something like Titan is just "World's first to get a couple good people together that could all spend a few hours learning the fight." I think it's a lot more meaningful when a group basically "solves the riddle," so to speak, and figures out how you're supposed to deal with all the various elements of a very hard fight that everyone's had a fair shot at.
One would hope that 2.2 will introduce more meaningful firsts in Coil 2, but yeah World First PRIMAL EXTREME or CRYSTAL TOWER is meaningless as it's filler/easy content. I mean, if it's not the highest level challenge in the game when it's released who cares?
I didn't think that had to be said tho
World first (to me) matters little when you've got people in the silly threads thread posting shit about people POS killing the hardest content. Obviously grats to BG for doing it first and doing it damned well, but shit can be cheated, and has been cheated in the past in other games, and those cheaters have had their coveted "world first" "titles" rescinded, as if there's some almighty tribunal sitting on some thunderous mountain, presiding over the fights as if they have some cosmic importance.
Basically, bragging rights alone have never counted for shit to me. When people are getting paid or receiving monetary or other benefits for accomplishing something first, then "world first" has meaning to me. That guy who won the million bucks for throwing the no hitter in that MLB game - that's a "world first" that means something to me. Dude raked in a cool mil from it. When Blizz or SE has a contest like that, color me interested in "world first".
But again, that's me. I'd love to be the first to clear T9 this time around with my crew. It still doesn't have any tangible "meaning" to me aside from knowing that we're really, really good at this game. That prospect alone, though, isn't enough for me to feel bad when there's something in the game that could potentially "ruin" world firsts, like cheating. People have been POS hacking this game since day 1. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if someone POS hacked the boss of T9 the second the servers came up.
When I can make millions of dollars playing MMOs professionally and then get a bonus for getting world first I'll care about world seconds
we need a website for FFXIV like www.wowprogress.com, do it BG!!
Return of BigKills
Xivarmory tracked things for a while but a wow progress site proved impossible since XIV doesn't track dates on their achievements, nor do they track anything other than Twin. The entire thing would have to be maintained by hand like server progression threads on the official forum.
Congrats! Our group got our first last night too. Was only our third time in phase 5 and almost wiped by the end. I reckon if one DD wasn't using food it would have been a wipe, that's how close it was. For our months of hard work we got a MNK weapon that no one wanted. Great. But at least we're not locked out of T6 now. I don't care about T5 weapons at this point with Leviathan making them obsolete anyway.
There's also a gigantic fistful of irony in saying that any accomplishment in an MMO is irrelevant due to cheating, then using something MLB related as an example of something where there's no cheating. I know he's talking about a MLB video game... but still lol.
Just curious where on twister phase do dps usually hang out? Kept having to sprint and avoid twisters to get dps on the dreads as a BLM so felt like I lost some possible damage. Tried to stay far enough from others to not have them run into my twisters at all either but the distance sucks when it eats your cast.
Spread out in a circle around the arena. Everyone in our static kind of has their own spot now that just kind of happened.
