Yeah but if they close off hell then sam would die right? Wouldn't he also have to start the trials again unless he kept w.e he got from starting them, and was healed.

I would think if he finishes the trials he would die, and doesn't have to start them over again. Given that the original ending for season 5/the series, before it got picked up for more seasons was clearly to have both brothers sacrifice themselves as vessels and go out like that, I have to imagine the series finale will involve one of them dying for good. Maybe both, I have to imagine Crowley still has a major role to play in all of this, and it's not like there is a demon possessing Dean, so they can't exorcise it, only way out for Dean that I see is death or the trials to be cured.

Swan Song was on TNT today. I was quickly reminded of how amazing this show used to be. We have the entirety of Season 9 on the DVR and just haven't watched it yet. I think we'll finally get to it next month.

Season 5 was supposed to be the series finale, but they brought it back. They are going to go for at least two more seasons because they have stated that they wanted to beat Smallvilles run of ten seasons. And as it was stated earlier it does feel like they are setting up the series finale with Dean as the new King of Hell and Sam as the new Castiel.
