    STEAM Marketplace

I had tried to look into Steam's marketplace a couple months ago, but I hadn't bought a game from them lately and didn't meet requirements.

Finally looked at it last night after playing Civ V for the first time in a year. My message center was blinking after I quit and I saw that I earned a bunch of "cards." I saw a button saying "sell" in the description and from there, I listed everything I could for ~.10 ea. and I had one item worth a few $$ from TF2.

It seems TF2 is the main force in the market. I jumped back in there for the first time in well over a year to try collecting drops to sell. Well, after an hour or so I got a couple and decided to sell them. I quit playing and went to the market but, it turns out the items I got can't be sold???

I have about a page and a half of gear for TF2 that isn't allowed to be sold...

Anyone have tips on how/what to farm in TF2 to sell and earn some Steam $$ for "free" games? I've been waiting for Max Payne and Tomb Raider $5 sales and I don't think they are too far off now (Halloween or Thanksgiving).

To my knowledge, it should be limited to trading cards only currently.

I was able to sell a couple things I collected a couple years ago, now called "vintage" items. Plus, I has a hat I could sell. I thought all the things that weren't sale-able were just too outdated. Turned out new stuff was blocked too.

I think the general rule is that anything available in the game's store (excluding keys and maybe some other things I'm not aware of) can't be sold on the marketplace. So for TF2 that means you can sell vintage/strange/unusual/genuine/whatever stuff but most standard items can't be sold.

DOTA 2 has a lot of wanted items, I believe. As does Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

With unsellable in game items, you can't directly make bank.
What you need to do is take them, and use an external market (or hang around game/steam chat rooms) and make deals, do your damnedest to trade up. You're going to have a good knowledge of the value of crates, keys, and ref, and what an item is worth in those terms.
Once you've accrued enough value, you trade your cache for an item that does sell on the Steam Market for decent bucks (like say, a Vintage Bill's Hat, that sells for ~$70). Of course, this involves actually finding one for trade for what you have.

CS GO is a huge market. Several skins go for $5+ with the stat trak versions ranging from $5-$50+. I made $18 from a stat trak deagle yesterday.

First of all, you need to know extensively the values of your items. Once you have a good ideas of your backpack values, go to any trading sites and convert your items to Keys either TF2 keys, Dota 2 keys, or CSGO keys. After that, just sell your keys in Steam Market.

Where to farm the high value items? You need to spend money to make more money. Most droppable items are worth 2-3 keys max and the chance of getting one are very low.
