There was a character you could look up on the Lodestone with a Goobue mount and all minions on a non-legacy server. That's all the evidence I needed to believe it.

Unfortunately, if you didn't catch it before the bans, that character has unsurprisingly been banned and can no longer be searched, so you'll just have to take the word of the people who saw it at the time.

Aside from that, you're not going to get proof that some 1 postcount scrub profited off of it or anything.

This, on top of the fact that they got rid of 360 BILLION gil from the game.

I don't think most people comprehend how large of a number that is. Even with the minor exploits like the bomb ash one and the other one there is no way that RMT got that much gil from anywhere short of just conjuring it up out of nowhere considering how long the game has been out.

I think that anyone debating that this hack isn't legit is kinda fooling themselves at this point. The actual details may be a little altered, though the fact that website is pissed at kincard for posting the SS strongly suggests that even if it's slightly off, it's close enough to the mark.

Except I repeatedly see the word illegal used in her posts. Yet every successful lawsuit (or even the unsuccessful ones that made it past the first hurdle) against RMT hasn't actually been for the profiting off of selling ingame currency. Its not that courts don't care (obviously they don't), its just plain not illegal.

You could manipulate item IDs and have them buy/sell/deliver successfully not too long ago. So, even that could have been as simple as Cheat Engine.

I guess Blizz won a lawsuit against peons4hire, which resulted in basically a restraining order:

It kinda proves my point though, Blizz is probably the most active and the company that can afford to try and deal with rmt, and even then the rmt sites are still selling gold like crazy. It really is like a drop in a bucket. It just isn't worth it. Though I wish more companies would fight it so courts would start caring more.

Can honestly say if I cared enough to hack the SE server, create gil from nothing, Robin Hood from the RMT and give to myself and my friends I would have. That's approx $50~250k easy money. My morality is broken I guess.

With that said, the exploits are easily fixed, but that leaves to reason that they have many holes in their servers that people could exploit in the future. SE should really get rid of that launcher and make you log in directly from the game, like most other modern MMOs.
