My account got hacked 3 months after I quit WoW, so yeah, I wouldn't file Blizzard under the "does everything right to prevent character stealing" section.

To be fair, when a character does get hacked in WoW, blizz has top notch customer service in handling it.

Friend (you know him, Trinsie) got his account hacked, and they npced all his shit, took everything out of the guildbank and npced that, then took all the gold. He got all his stuff back in two weeks, as well as they sent the guild leader everything that was taken from the bank.


I don't think you can prevent it 100%, but you can do excellent customer service, so when it does happen, it's a non-issue.

This. My brother got his WoW account ganked three times over the period of two years. Service rep fixed everything for him each time, as well as restockin lost shit. Took him that long to get a bloody authenticator tag though, since he can't be arsed to use unique passwords for important shit.

Doesn't help that authenticators are technically useless for FFXI also given an old POL bug, unless they stealth-fixed that server-side in the past year.

I think I even remember alpha. Only some classes added, no skills and no spells
