Audio tapes usually use slower pronunciation and therefore are easier to understand, listening and understanding native English speakers is much harder.
What aspect of English was the most difficult to master? The different pronunciations, be it by race or geographical location, its quite hard to make out the words when the speed and accent vary wildly from place to place.
