Multiple issues popped up over night.

Hoping I can fix this before raid time so gf doesn't need to use my old ass laptop. But it the issues started with skype not working error "Exception EOIESysError in module skype.exe at 0012575D Invalid Signature". Was gonna ignore it and tried to boot up FFXXIV but that wouldn't load due to an error in the prefetch folder being corrupted and it said we should run disk check which we did but made the problem worse. Now Desktop Window Manager popped up turning off Aero n such. Also no .exe programs will run, says everything is not a valid win32 file. Tried running stuff in safemode with the same problem. Was hoping to avoid not having to reformat

Honestly with those sorts of problems I would backup data now and do a proper check of the drive. Get hold of FalconFour Boot CD 4.6 from TPB and run spinrite or HDD regenerator on that drive. Chances are it's fucked or starting to be. If so replace drive and reinstall.

If you download the boot cd you'll need the patch.

Would these work on a SSD?

SSD run them in read only. Spinrite that's option 1. Sometimes a read-only scan will help an SSD recognise problems and do a self-repair. Since it's not a mechanical drive though the issue is less likely to be bad sectors. It's more likely to be either Operating system corruption or an issue with the SSD controller. Won't hurt to run the scans in read only mode. I'd say you won't get away without a reformat though. It depends on the level of corruption you're experiencing. Windows doesn't repair all that well.
