Help me identify a power connector BG.

So, I'm putting the finishing touches on my new build. I want to plug this into this. The fan controller has options to plug either 3pin or molex connections, so I'm trying to identify the connector type for the fan controller that comes on the Thermaltake V1 so I can buy (or make) an adapter.

what you linked is a CPU cooler, if its cooling your CPU you need to leave it plugged into the motherboard so it can regular your temps correctly.

Found a thermaltake PCI slot fan controller here, but that's still not quite what I'm looking for.

The 3pin on the CPU cooler is plugged into the mobo, but there is a second manual fan speed controller that's nothing but a short knob that I'd have to reach down under the CPU cooler to adjust. I'd like the ability to control it from the fan controller I bought or set it to auto.

that Im not sure on, most CPU connectors come either 3 or 4 pin, the third pin is the temp, the 4th pin is I dont know, probably a ground, you only need 2 pins to control power
it might not be something you can extend sadly

Looks like it's that way on a lot of Thermaltake fans. There's a normal 3 pin that goes out for fan power, and a separate wire with this proprietary connector that goes off either to this short ass knob, or it can be plugged into the PCI slot fan controller that I linked. Maybe I'll buy one and splice the wires. I can't see how anything could possibly go wrong.

I would definitely prefer to find one with that stupid connector on one end and a 3pin on the other tho.

Just looking at the connectors, seems like they'd fit. If it requires some special knob to be inbetween to make it work with a mobo, then just set it to its highest and plug it into your other thingie (since it must work normally with any mobo). Inefficient but it should work, or the highest setting is still quiet enough for you to not care.

Add: though some mobos complain when the heatsink-fan is not reading any power or RPMs, thinking that fan has failed. It's a decent little safety, though you could likely disable that if this was a feature.

The knob and it's short wire are super inconvient when I have a front panel that one would think would be able to replace the knob if I could just hook it up. I don't see why I can't replace one voltage regulator for another.

It's pretty hard to see from their own pictures if the connectors are different. One would hope an enthusiast, aftermarket heatsink would have the capability you want (to hook up its fan to something else), but that's a heavy assumption. It's probably too old to matter, but I had a TT 80mm fan from the late 90s that included a dial. It was on a separate line.

Wait, it kind of looks like this one is on a separate line too. I thought it was in between the whole time lol. It might work to just disconnect the thing in your red circle; I think my old fan would just default to max speed if it didn't have the knob. It's been too long though. Could also visit a store and ask to see one if you can find it locally.

Add: I'm thinking your little regulator just plugs in fans using the normal fan port and varies their voltage to mess with fan speeds. So just plug in the fan normally to the regulator. Not using the knob's port, but the normal port, since that's where power is. The heatsink's regulator is just a small annoyance you could probably ignore by leaving it at max and tucking it away with electric tape or something if it actually requires the thing to spin up at all (it shouldn't, but that's a guess).

haha no, it has it's own wire. I would think I'd be able to find something too, but it's proving to be difficult. If I knew what they were called I'd head to radio shack and make one myself.

You might be able to just ignore it, as in not even plug in the knob and leave that part dangling there (though that may be a hazard itself if stuff is nearby). Would be silly of them to require it be plugged for the fan to spin up, but there have been weirder things...

Well, the wire with the knob is just long enough that the knob fits through a hole used to hide wires for CPU power and fan connectors, but that means I have to take the side panel off to adjust it but at least it's not in the way.
