Re: Priwen
The newest post about it is correcting the one from the 11th that said it gave +100% (2x block rate), because it actually gives +200% (3x block rate).
Not surprised some don't really get that people sequestering themselves off from the rest of the player base lose track of how the game's PUG scene works... or fails to. In the end, not everyone's gonna find that perfect linkshell/guild/whatever, but that doesn't matter because it's not a problem they don't experience. Hoping for warm and fuzzy feelings to fix that isn't really going to change anything as it fails to pander to greed and efficiency.
Perhaps SE should revisit the mentoring system and with that, consider offering multiplicative bonuses to all events if people are clearing for the first time. Yoink a page from XIV's book and allow commendations that can later be redeemed for other (likely cosmetic) things, too. Sure, some folks may try to find a way to game the system with mules or secondary accounts, but I'd rather that possibility than a hopeless blind faith that just doesn't work, especially without any kind of cross-server grouping mechanisms.
This is the obvious solution, so don't every expect any of it to happen.
If there were additional rewards for being forced to drag winless characters through the content (CAPABLE winless characters that just can't get the win due to other people's INCOMPETENCE) then people would have to man up and achieve "good enough status" and actually accomplish something.
As has been said before, SE's true goal is just to see how many people they can piss off, ROR at our plight, and act in typical "god" fashion, making our lives, their personal entertainment.
With the end goal of convincing everyone it's time to quit, cut the servers, and play 14.(never going to happen).
I'd have to venture a guess that the mass majority has issues doing (any) delve. But the only voices we hear/see are the kind of people who actually post on forums, and not actual regular players.
Yeah there are never any delve parties on sylph and if there are, they are usually for a relic rng or a 3 song bard. Very few pools among ls and friends to draw on for most people as well![]()
We all know it's all about incentives so maybe Arus's "multiplicative bonuses to all events if people are clearing for the first time" idea would work.
In any case, Low NA or EU population wouldn't be as big a problem if SE correctly implemented a sliding scale, from solo all the way up to 18-man, where monster statistics, reward quantity and drop rate/points earned(if it's a point/gear exchange system) scaled with how many you choose to bring. This way, you can log in and start playing any part of the game you want, shout for as much or as little as you want, while still giving incentives to partying up.
Either that or maybe make it so you can acquire the same gear from different sources. So, I don't know, maybe we could have the ability to buy fragments of Delve/other content weapons and armor as a Monipulator with PvP wins + Infamy? This would be important to give incentive to not only collect Infamy but also to stick around and fight battles to the end. And then, in order to fuse the parts into something usable, we'd have to challenge a version of the NM that drops that particular piece of gear that is scaled for MON Vs. MON combat? Or maybe introduce RoE AMAN vouchers for different gearsets and weapons that can be obtained from killing monster types/NM's that relate to that gear?
One thing is clear, everything they're trying, isn't working. More and more player bleed out monthly.
In hyperbolic fashion, anything, ANYTHING other than what they are doing, would be beneficial. If any of them played, it'd be a completely different story.
I think you've kinda hit the nail on the head. There is a huge fundamental disconnect with how they are the game actually works and how they think it works. And part of that is they think it works just exactly the way it's supposed to and how they planned it when they add things and don't even bother to verify if that's how things turned out and often tell the players who see that it's not working that it is and it must be our faults for doing it wrong
You were one of the 3% that voted you greatly disliked the movement speed bonus, weren't you?
Seriously though, in what way do you think what they're doing isn't working? Many in game (that I talk with/see talking in pugs) are generally happy with the game as of late. The ONLY complaints I've seen are people can't keep up with the content, and that by time they clear content and get the gear they were after, the next update hits and something "better" comes out. "Better" is relative really, we've hit that side-grade plateau.
Other than being a venomous hate monger for alliance content (all but dead at this point), what's your issue with the direction the game is taking? Everything they do is wrong by your word. Care to share what's so terrible? And maybe your server (or mine) is an exception, but I've seen quite the opposite of "more and more players bleeding out." Shit's been pretty stable for months really.
I personally enjoy being able to log onto my server at any time, and to then see /shout and /yell activity, even if it isn't always related to something I want. That's pretty damn active, as far as I can tell. It's a different from of "active" than what was expected in 2004, but I'm on board with that.Originally Posted by Anomie
I've also been around since NA PC release, and I believe that essentially everything they've done from Abyssea onward was a step in the right direction.
Please tell me why you believe they're doing everything wrong, and why this matters. Keep in mind that the majority of the player base surely disagrees with you if you believe that the old FFXI is the ideal FFXI, and that I always find it incredibly entertaining when a serious endgame player talks about how they miss it. What, you miss your having had the same gear on your character for years after the last relevant endgame content came out? You miss having that relic you worked so hard for that you then didn't replace for all that time? Please. I thought we were playing a game here, not locking up our Barbie and Ken dolls as collectibles in a glass cabinet to stare at obsessively lovingly every day.
I await your tears. I do hope they are delicious.
shout content doesnt work for him because he's alienated himself from the server...
no one wants to play with someone who goes around telling everyone how shitty they all are and if he had 17 clones, he'd beat the game.
The problem with that is there ARE no shouts to join, they all fail. I don't particularly enjoy losing content repeatedly. It's not exactly "fun".
No one made any mention of missing the old ffxi, specifically not me, that's for damn sure. I hated 24 hour nms and botclaiming more than anyone, I promise you that.
I'm just entirely disliking the entire iLvl garbage, as an entirety it's disgusting, truthfully.
Encumber. HUGE fail. Regardless of the logic, there should never under any circumstance be gear stripping.
Entirely too much reliance upon stun, with instant death tp moves and spells, not totally true in new delve, to an extent.
Trust just straight up obnoxious the way people are/were using it. Completely used in the 100% wrong way. 119's do NOT need whiffing trusts clogging up zones.
Complete and total lack of all notorious monsters in adoulin. Come on, hunting nms is what final fantasy series is about as a whole.
Too many damn secrets. I'm tired of hidden procs that change stances and hidden broken mechanics.
Hp fix wasn't enough, I can go on ad on and on, no ones going to read anyway.
And Nynja you can keep miss-representing me until you're blue in the face, idc man, no one does. If you had a modicum of skill, I MIGHT care about your opinion(s). I mean for Christ's sake you still think an Evasion set is worth wearing when you 3box.
If it weren't true, It wouldn't be said. Sometimes (all the fucking time) people who are shitty, NEED to be told they're shitty.
It's pretty straight forward, take a look at comeatmebot. There is nothing that guy can't beat with his bot army, Anyone capable of having the same set up, would never again complain about anything in the game, seriously.
Short of a programming failure, it's impossible for the "players" to fuck up. Actual players fuck up ALL THE DAMN TIME! And it's detrimental.
That's the nature of the beast when you play with randoms, I know this. But if I have to choose between asshats in the ONLY shell that does things, as choice A. And having to complain that the randoms can't win anything as choice B.
I'll take B every time. I'd rather have nothing of value than give up integrity even in a video game.
Then you have nothing of value, but you bitch about having nothing of value...so you're a hypocrite.
Outside of Tojil and Shark, what do you still do that need stun at all? Also short of Yorcia Delve/VD dm, I've won everything with pug; I have wiped to easy stuff too but if you make your own shout; sooner or later you'll find good people.
You don't need an LS to clear current content, specially with how low populater the server are now, everyone know everyone, so if your shout group are good, they'll join you.
What hidden secret are you talking about ? If you mean stuff like how to stop yorcia delve morta charm, I def prefer having to figure it out than making it even more easier than it is now w/o any testing.
You're the 1st person I see complaining about HP fix lol
Sounds like the primary reason you can't find competent people to clear content with is that they wouldn't come within a mile of you.
There are, and always have been plenty of issues with this game, but that's the same with every game. Why are you still here if the game is so terrible and you don't like anything about it, you definitely aren't playing for the social factor since you seem to have a borderline personality disorder.
Looks like a Reprisal buff is coming in May. I'm no Pld, but BGWiki lists its current damage spike cap formula as HP/2. Looks like it's changing to HPx2.
There's no reason to take Ochain to 99 either way. Finish your horns and sit on your plates/dross.
