I always felt that WHM should be top tier healer because it cant really do anything else. SCH could always fill out nuking or healing duties (and was OP during Salvage before iLvl made it moot and even now SCH can still solo some zones better than other jobs). RDM was always meant to be an enfeebler/battery job although it is in serious need of adjustments to make it worthwhile over other jobs at 99 (SCH can apply most of the relevant enfeebs and do much more making it more likely to be used in a slot). As far as the 10 DD argument, I beg to differ on that. Monitor shouts to see what the general view is. MNK/RNG are pretty much the only DD people ask for atm with extremely well geared WAR/SAM who have a reputation getting invites and pretty much all other jobs getting sidelined. NIN is making a comeback after being sidelined for months after Adoulin came back and THF being invited just for TH. That still leaves plenty of supposed DD jobs that are sidelined. WAR/DRK/DRG/MNK/SAM/RNG have all enjoyed their time at the top of the hierarchy but others are ignored (When was the last time a PUG WANTED to take a BST/PUP/DNC/SMN/RUN/BLU to a high end fight if they had other options).
BRD I agree is too far ahead of other jobs in terms of buffing (in terms of buffing speed, variety, potency and ease) and that other jobs should be adjusted to bring them on par but as far as WHM goes I don't see a reason for them to NOT be top tier healers since they lack flexibility compared to other jobs in terms of what they can do.
It's planned all world maintenance... it's been in the login servmes for the last few days. As to why they are doing it no idea.
Whm is versatile too. They get party enhancements like auspice, pro/shell, regens, AoE cures and status removals, they get enfeebles that aren't much weaker than rdm's, they can give a sizeable chunk of mp to another pt member, arise is game changing and with /sch can nuke hard with tier1s with all the MAB out there. They could knock brd down a few pegs and let Rdm cast temper and enspells on other people. In regards to the concern that if Rdm could buff others they would have to buff continuously, that's a lie. With all the buff duration gear out there and fSt cast Rdm has we could easily maintain temper and haste on 2-3 dds while still debuffing/nuking/healing. Make temper and enspells party buffs otherwise give those spells to other jobs, they're pointless spells because Rdm never uses hen outside of solo. I mean if Rdm was a more competent melee then maybe but why add spells like temper and enspells to only be used in solo content ?

- FINAL FANTASY XI
[Details]
The following issue has been addressed.
-An issue in Monstrosity wherein monster abilities were unable to be selected from the main menu.
-An issue in Monstrosity wherein "・" appeared as an entry under the Job Traits.
-An issue wherein using a macro to equip multiple equipment in the Inventory and Mog Wardrobe would cause some equipment to not be equipped.
-An issue with the NPC "Xavinien" in Eastern Adoulin wherein talking to the NPC and choosing a response from the list will sometimes cause a force close. (NA, EU only)
-An issue with the character select screen wherein certain letters and characters wouldn't appear. (EU only)
So they already fucked with dual wield by adjusting delay so 2h could get an advantage, and now theyre going to fuck with TP delay, fucking dual wielders again.
THANKS OBAMA
Only took 6 months!-An issue with the NPC "Xavinien" in Eastern Adoulin wherein talking to the NPC and choosing a response from the list will sometimes cause a force close. (NA, EU only)
The problem with this is that if walmart SAM or DRG are as good as walmart MNK, then with Ryu/Koga they'll be massively OP. Plus there seems to be DD re-adjustment built into Job Points, so when they finally unfuck that system they're going to double dick MNK with this adjustment. And they're further hinting that the WS readjustments will preferentially help MNK less than other DDs.
Also THF, NIN, DNC, and BLU will just get collaterally blown further into irrelevance wrt melee damage.
Calling it now, in a couple months we're going to be back to full-blown ToAU era SAM Fantasy with Kogas everywhere and free +30 STR on Hasso.
lol ok. Meanwhile I get invited to 5 times as many events on my RNG I geared in a weekend compared to my MNK I've spent hundreds of millions of gil on just since I started playing the game again, because I haven't seen a "MNK only" shout outside of Delve 1 in weeks. Nearly every shout that doesn't specify RNG only just asks for 119 DDs and fills in 5 seconds.
Mm.... no, I have to agree with Nynja based on the post. It's definitely scary.
Spoiler: show
They're specifically attempting to address Monk, which is problematic. In the above graph you can see the TP/sec for each delay value. A Verth monk has a base round delay of 531 (265 per fist), which drops to 331 after Martial Arts (165 per fist 1.75 TP/sec). My DNC (a Dual Wield job) has a base round delay of 405 (202 per weapon), which drops to 282 after DW (141 per dagger, 1.96 TP/sec) with just DW from traits. By comparison, an unhasted Conqueror WAR gets 1.63 TP/sec. You can see how SE might look at those numbers and see a problem.
However, the numbers of the above paragraph are almost totally irrelevant, because no one really cares about the TP/sec of an unhasted melee. As was recently noted, you don't make parties without a bard and a white mage. When you toss double marches and Haste into the equation:
* Monk hits the delay floor at at 53 delay/fist, but still only gets 4.8TP/fist because Martial Arts is still in effect, so they have a TP/sec of 5.43.
* My DNC hits the delay floor at 40 delay/dagger, but still only gets 4.6 TP/dagger because DW traits are still in effect, so I have a TP/sec of 6.81.
* A Conqueror WAR has 100 delay/round and still gets 13.7 TP/hit, giving them a TP/sec of 8.15.
So if SE is looking at the TP gain and seeing a way to disadvantage monk, you can be sure that:
1) They're doin' it wrong.
2) They're probably too dumb to avoid hitting the nearby dual wield jobs. - Jobs that Dual Wield Axes, Swords, or Katanas are even closer to Monks than dagger jobs.
There's nothing in their post to suggest a nerf, though. I bet they boost TP/hit for higher delays, perhaps starting around 250 delay. This is very unlikely to be an adjustment that helps my dancer do any content, unless their WS adjustment accidentally gives Pyrrhic Kleos endeath.
They also specifically mentioned making more mobs that are blunt resistant (which, correct me if I'm wrong, is already the most common melee resistance, almost always the most severely resisted, and the least common melee weakness) and adjusting WS preferentially to aid 2handers. And not to get too slippery slopey, but now that they've got it in their heads that MNK is a problem it's probably going to get screwed on new gear.
i am sorry on which hardmode battlefield is hand-to-hand resisted? the only mob family tree that heavily resists blunt is the amorph one which are mostly for any DD a nightmare.
Playing with mob resistance isnt a bad thing, i miss that design choice kinda (as long as they keep it balanced and dont only release slashin weak, or piercing weak mobs)
We can all dream about Tachi: Rana being able to crit! I can't wait for june update now! Now we need some refreshing content that isn't delve/high tier battlefield!
Blunt has resistances within the amorph family that slash/pierce hit normally (which, keep in mind, is likely the remaining Naakual/Delve, constituting an already-planned nerf for MNK which is now going to hit even harder) and its resistances on amorphs that resist all melee are twice as severe (usually quarter damage instead of half). This was probably the point of adding Formless in the first place, except they said upcoming monsters will resist that too, so add that nerf to the pile.
