Exactly my point, we need something to do, not more High Tier Battlefield with gear weaker than what we use atm.
edit: adding "utility" weapon that are useless for current game paradigm isn't something worth doing.

Not sure, a lot of people I know are taking breaks atm due to the content coming out. People don't know what they want though. I recall months ago people bitching that SE is releasing too much equipment that eclipses shit, now they are bitching its nothing but sidegrades. People were posting that they WANTED side grades lol, that we were getting too much powerful equipment.
I want upgrade that are are to get, not upgrade that you can get day one of the event. Right now I have nothing to do in game, I just want something to work toward to.
Sounds like you wanna build a Mythic then? Or another one if you have one already. I really doubt we'll return to the VW era of 1% drops and grinding "end game" content ad nauseum. Do you really want something that's 119 and takes forever to work towards when we all know it's going to be replaced eventually? I agree there should be a certain longevity to content they release but the main issue is people that can clear the content do so quickly and anyone that doesn't do that is left in the dust hoping for pick-ups for months after the initial release. Maybe if there was some kind of incentive to repeat content it wouldn't be such an issue but I don't know what kind of incentive people would actually care about.
This might have been the general thought at the time, but it was based on ignorance and eyeballing parses. Today's FFXI we know exactly how most things work to make well-informed decisions on what's best and how far behind everything else is based on facts and numbers.
The % gap between Amano and Hagun during the 75 era is probably larger than Koga and Tsurumaru now, to be honest.
I think he means compared to pre-SoA 90-99, where nobody wanted to bring non-REM DD to events, especially before merit WS came out. Nowadays nobody cares what REM weapons anyone has, besides instruments/shields and maybe rng relics.
Which only happened because RE weapons became so much easier to make. I'm trying to say the gap between RME and AH/other easier to get weapons didn't exactly massively shift all of a sudden in any era, it was always and is still there.
That's why I was comparing Amano to Hagun, which usually people perceive as "pretty much equal" back in the day, when, in fact, if we use the knowledge that we have now, Amano was clearly superior. What people used as proof back then was parses and eyeballing WS #s and the notion that if you had a relic you were a good player, when in most cases that was never true.
They need to add content assuming everyone has r/e/m for their job, I wouldn't mind if there is a 119 gkt with oat being like equal/1% behind koga, same for every job and make that content last at least a month event since AA is either useless side grade or cleared day one.
I miss the old 6 month-1 year road maps they use to give us. Even if the stuff on it was never on time, we always had a grasp on what to expect content-wise.
If we assume that they learned their lesson with SoA release(releasing the hardest shit first so there's 0 point to doing any of the other content)... these new skirmishes should build characters up to face the hardest content they have planned in the future(Delve3? something totally new?), only this time we have no idea if something similar to the difficulty of Delve at SoA release will ever come.
I'm saying that RME has always been leaps and bounds better than other weapons, that fact has not changed in any era, only the difficulty to obtain them.
Until SE decides to whip up quests for RMEs that reward the last RME version prior to Adoulin, this is pretty much the last thing they should do. Forcing newcomers or those looking into other jobs into 3 month+ slogs through antiquated content for an individual item is not how you win over players. But this pretty much goes back to my earlier comment that XI vets need to reevaluate how long something should take these days.
The scale of difference has changed significantly going to and from that post abyssea pre-ilvl era thou, and said era was what spawned the REM only mentality for pickup groups, which has since died out. Outside of relic rng, you don't see REM-DD only shouts anymore, despite 119 relics being as common as 90 emps were.
"not my problem lolz"
Got it.
I feel like they should just make REM a 1 month deal...I guess relics are already kind of like this if you are consistent but the whole 75 day wait on mythic and lack of HMP/RC emp is just dumb and needs to be hardcore nerfed.
I honestly wouldn't mind if SE just started handing out REM like candy.
Not like its hard for a new comer to catch up in the end game scene after they finish missions and crap. You are practically handed 115~119 gear now. 115 from RoE which you will have enough points by the time you hit 99. Then 119 from skirmish/BCNM.
I want to know what people consider "hard" and what they expect this content to drop if it requires "best" gear to win. Nothing wrong with challenging content but lets be honest besides throwing annoying 1 shot moves onto everything since abyssea ended there's never been anything "hard" in the existence of this game. There's only been terrible players and they aren't going anywhere. If you want content that excludes these players, well, it already exists. Do you really really think things that drop 119 gear are going to be harder than other 119 content? There's hard mode versions of missions and 18 man delve and people always just take the path of least resistance. It doesn't really seem like people actually want content that's "hard." Just saying.
