Sidebar: best decision I ever made in WoW was to get used to full mouse movement without strafing/backing up (jumpturn for kiting), which allowed me to use WASD for more binds. Yeah, strafing's nice and everything but having four more easily-accessible binds is so much better.

for WASD movement I have 1-5 and then cfvgb for my thumb, rebinding whatever was on those keys to 6 - 0. Just feels comfortable

I'm not a fan of WoW either but I'd admit to say there is more skill mechanically in the game over XI just by the pure fact that attacks can be dodged based on timing and actions you do. XI has some of that with stun/utsu/third eye/etc.

Again...this game has just resorted to ZERGFEST where I don't really see skill. With gearswap...it becomes even easier. Maybe I'm flattering myself but this game really isn't too difficult.

I think what makes XI difficult it finding people to do shit with.
Been suggested before, but next time you play, boot up a vanilla version of the game. No curebots, no stunbots, only use the 6 line macro ingame for all gearswaps and abilities. Then please give us an honest assessment of how the game plays between each style.

Makes balancing content almost impossible. What do you set as your baseline? Depending on what version you play, something that is super easy one way is next to impossible the other.

In all fairness, this game is extremely friendly to people who don't swap equipment much now. Vanilla XI would be gross looking, but still incredibly accessible

Stat vomit is probably one of the greatest things SE has ever done for casual players(who do matter in the grand scheme of things)

Oh, unless you're a summoner. This game still hates summoners

to not change gear is bad and you should feel bad. not changing gear is a disservice to the parties joined and disrespect to the people in those parties.

Astute observation, but I said much. As in within the confines of reasonable usage of the in-game macro system. It's tremendously more realistic at this point in the game, and serves to help casual, vanilla XI players like very little has before

So from the new trailers we saw the new weapon models (speaking of which: cool models).
Previously we only saw the artworks of those weapons and people assumed they would have become Ergon weapons for all other jobs (lol) or a new category of legendary weapons.
While we can't rule that out, it seems to me those are likely the mentioned Alluvion Skirmish 119 weapons?

Wonder what kind of place will such weapons be able to find in a game where you have: 119 RME, 119 Delve weapons, 119 Skirmish weapons, 119 JSE weapons.
    Hmmmm....

Also, the WAR fighting Kirin, isn't he wearing a new type of Head equipment?

Kinda odd but the Mithra h2h weapon looks like it expands when she pulls them out, is that a Mithra thing or something? I'm not too overly excited about the new skrimish but I'll be optimistic and maybe it will be fun. I really really hope its not like outer skirmish where you run forever before finding a mob that are all in fixed locations. At that point they should just make it like the yorcia one where they all run to you so its less of a hassle lol. Funny how SE always shows RDM meleeing in their videos. That RDM missed their attacks like 5 times in a row lol.

the head equipment looks like the 119 set from Delve II, name escapes me.

    Xaddi you mean?
    http://www.ffxiah.com/item/27723/xaddi-headgear

Yeah it's probably that one, never seen it before.
So this patch in theory will have no new gear aside from the Alluvion weapons. Ungh... no new BCs either.
The only type of item we're getting in this new patch is gonna be the new weapons? Odd, odd, odd.
But I guess more time for people who are behind and still need to catch up.

We should get Empy reforge in september anyway, if all goes well.

Are there really people still behind that didn't take a year break after delve 1 ? I hope the wpn are good/very close to being to best option for each job, macro all gear in one macro pn vanilla mean SE will consider it when adding content, so maybe we'll get harder content!

I never took a break and I still need a few items here and there.
Granted it's not much, but still... it's something.

Delve Add a katana to the array of drops from Muyingwa
Guess they're adding Delve version of the 115 Katana they added to Colkhab

Also getting augmentable shields, emphasis hopefully on the plural.

Been pretty pumped for the mission additions. Though Xol (who knows til it hits) seems a bit whimsical summoning all those dolls. <.<

Weapons look cool, here's hoping there's a reason to get them.

Xol's movements just made me think Canadian.

    thanks south park :I

Either way, the whimsical nature... someone mentioned/theorized it not being the big-bad but more jesterly i thought? This seems to lead credence to it.

Well there better be some reason to or Alluvion Skirmish will kinda fail (until the new version is released).
Unless Alluvion Skirmish will be nice for something else (XP/CP farm? Bayld farm? H.P. Bayld pouches?), but so far they only announced weapons so... if they suck, why should anybody even bother with Alluvion Skirmishes?

As far as shields go, even if there's only one type (imho at least two) it could still be nice since we're supposed to stick Mage stats on it.
Hope they're not Rare so I can get two! One for melee (lolz) and one for the rest. Time to retire my Genbu's Shield finally?!

Hmm... I don't really care about any of the job adjustments, but I look forward to Skirmish.

Gonna have to spam old skirmish to even enter the new skirmish. Hopefully the drop rate on the items is as common as they implied, if any of this stuff is good I foresee a lot of congestion.

They said "increase the effect of +Geomancy skill" last time they mentioned this. With the confusion surrounding Idris when it was first updated, I'm not sure how to take this now. I guess I'd have to retest everything regardless, but will be annoying to see if it's the +skill or Geomancy+ that has the increase.

Pretty cool of them to listen to feedback and give a lot of options when it comes to augmenting gear. Melee, ranged, mage, and pet stats round it out fairly well. No tanks or healing, but outside of augmenting a bunch of +enmity for Run, idk what would really be useful in that area. Still dunno the exact nature of these augments too, could still be kinda like the other skirmishes where you get 2-3 augments per slot.

Pretty stoked for the update overall. :D Here's to hoping the weapons are useful, cause they sure are pretty.
