I love the ninja explanation... we realize that the ninjitsu that you actually use has ridiculously long cast times for a melee and that might be a valid concern but right now we are focused on making slight improvements to throw weapons that nobody uses and still wont after the adjustments

While it's good to see they're giving BLU attention, it's still pretty silly to see how far their head is up their ass when it comes to hybrids. NIN cast times are one example, and even DRK's to a degree. Though I'd say Dark magic tends to suffer more relative to its effects and just not worth the time giving up a couple attack rounds for one spell. Then I guess there's the comedy of a melee RDM and the litany of things they could do to make it work, but just don't because...

not like casting wait is a nissue for nukers at all. give a nuker caped cast and recast ans you wont see a big improvement in dmg compared to what melees get with more haste.... stupid ja/cast delay

i hope the weapons will have unique augments that you can pick. would like to make a stave or stave with 25 curepot & iredesblabla (chatoyan) and cure casting - or some other stuff. did they mention how many augments you can put on them?

Absorb spells should be cast on the pull to avoid delay. Also people pay millions for 1-2 str and absorbs give what like 30-40 with nehervoid and gear or more? I almost never see drks opening a fight with absorb acc even though it could be a potential 30-40ish acc for several minutes with the right gear etc. i dont play drk but i feel like if i did, i would be casting absorb acc more since the potential acc boost can mean dropping some acc pieces, or for when madrigal drops/gets dispelled.

If absorb spell didn't decay so fast, people might use them more

They said they were giving some special benefit to using shuriken when they revamp it.

I think it's good to work on the throwing aspect of ninja, however it still remains pretty meaningless unless they give an overall revamp to throwing in general. Some nin unique ws wouldn't hurt.

I do think throwing could be good... if you had the money at certain lvls it was certainly awesome for your dps... but given the easy of haste capping now and our current dps you'd need some really huge benefit to really make it worthwhile. Something like cheap shurikens with 300-500 dmg on them and some kind of new stance that gives sange like effect that doesn't consume shadows... well pure dps wise. Could do something crazy and unique... like throwing shurikens gives you shadows! Or awesome eneffects or maybe a samba like effect that only hits the enemy when throwing bwhahhahaha

    Can't they introduce a boomerang-like fuuma?

Whether a glyptic = 1 augment each, or is like current Skirmish and comes with 1-3 augments, we dunno til the update.

The only useful idea I've seen someone suggest for shurikens is to make Sange have a skillchain affinity. It'd put that skillchain bonus to some use, I guess.

Give it level 3 light/dark effect! Though it would only make it possibly useful once every 5 minutes... and even then you'd have to add ilvl shurikens with throwing skill on them and you'd have to give up the epic san dmg for the magic burst!

Well, I don't really expect they'd actually do it but if SE wanted a radical revamp to Sange they could go all out:

    1) Make Sange a throwing "stance" instead of a one time ability. Greatly nerf melee attacks and/or defensive abilities, in exchange for ranged buffs (racc/ratk/snapshot/etc). If they keep this on a 5min timer, make it un-dispellable.

    2) Make ilevel throwing items available, beyond the one 119 chakram. If they aren't reasonably priced, make them non-consumable. Add recycle if needed, or adjust pricing accordingly.

    3) Add some throwing WS?

Goal would presumably be to make NIN another DD option for a ranged attack strategy. Not RNG level, but actually strong enough to be a legitimate ranged DD option with some added utility from Ninjutsu enfeebles. Yeah, if you had RNG available you'd probably still use those, but it could be helpful to allow some flexibility to fill the ranged roles when you just don't have enough RNG around.

NIN already has some enmity reduction tools in Innin and Yain. The job also has access to a very respectable amount of ranged gear. Even NIN JSE stuff has a lot of pretty good ranged stats: AF hands/legs, Relic body, JSE back. And of course the many all jobs or ranged/light DD job pieces. You could put together a very solid NIN ranged set with existing gear. Swap out some of the below for stuff like Store TP might be reasonble.

    Umbani Cap
    Ej Necklace or Ocachi Gorget
    Volley/Clearview earrings
    Mochizuki Chainmail +1
    Hachiya Tekko +1
    R.Acc rings
    Yokaze Mantle or Terebellum Mantle
    Oneiros Cest or Buccaneer's Belt
Hachiya Hakama +1 or Nahtirah Trousers
    Vanir Boots

OK I just spend waaaaaaay too long actually considering NIN ranged sets, but you get the point. It's POSSIBLE to revamp Sange and throwing into something viable. Not that I'd bet on it.

NIN also gets the bonus of being a decent melee, with good defensive abilities. Could be good for things like kamihr.

Not that they'll actually do any worthwhile changes.

That's a really good point. Would be cool to be able to have a job that switches from melee role to ranged role on the fly, mid-event like Kamihr Delve. Hell, I play COR that way sometimes now in between buffing. Ceizak Delve is a good example, COR/DNC with melee gear and daggers makes a solid contribution on NM1-5, then on Muyingwa you can just go all out ranged.

And they have mentioned viewing NIN as a job that can quickly switch roles in connection with the recent enmity +/- spells (not that those really make much difference with the current enmity system being the way it is).

(fun to imagine, but they can't possibly really be thinking of making NIN useful for throwing... right?)

I'd be a fan of throwing WS but it might make NIN go over the top if it's anything like RNG WS. I can just see the epeen WS damage numbers now... I mean you can see some good damage with just sange. Just add some modifiers in there....

As for as REM go, yeah...there are situations where relics are better than mythics but for most of the 2handed weapons like Koga/Lib/Hige/etc they beat the E/M counterparts. I mean what could they possibly add to new legendary weapons w/o being redundant with previous legendary weapons. There is probably a ton but I would just expect something either really OP like OAT3-4+ or no OAT and super lack luster JA enhancements. I lack creativity though...sure someone else could toss out some ideas lol.
