New woe isn't released yet and it already gave me headache. Incursion better be great.
Probably already been said but the good side of having to spam WoE to have them level up is it will drive coin prices down. There are WS I still need to unlock.
Coins havent been offered for a while tho
Yeah I know I did them the first time. Really didn't take much
Every time I see these great QoL buffs I wonder why all of these wasn't here back in the day @_@ Still a welcome to have
Tanaka's crew had a major aversion to doing ANYTHING at all UI-related. I still feel bad for whoever got stuck on PS2-duty for the first few months of SoA, trying to untangle that broken mess to make it crash less, and to make room to fit all the stuff they added in over the past year. I'm actually curious how much they had to butcher the model-cap limit on PS2, since it's probably the easiest way to budget more ram when things aren't being CPU-bound.
Would have surely been a very different game today if Matsui had the helm earlier. On the interface front, has there been any mention at all about the beta interface that's been sitting on the test server forever? The proper XI client has the tickbox for it under FFXI Config these days so I assume they still plan to finish it at some point.
Speaking of UI, have we heard ANYTHING about the new UI recently? I feel like we haven't heard about it in ages. I'm still wanting that third always-up macro line...
Third line of Macro would be nice.
I'm kinda worried by the fact they said the new UI wouldn't work with gamepads.
If they ever release it I hope they'll think about players who play with a gamepad too.
About the concern for the third macro line I don't see the problem.
On PCs it could be: Macro1: Alt, Macro2: Ctrl, Macro3: Alt+Ctrl.
On Pad it could be: Macro1: Left Trigger, Macro2: Right Trigger, Macro3: Left+Right Trigger.
I recall they said the third macro bar would respond to raw 0-9 inputs, leaving the prior two to their typical alt/ctrl modifier. It's a shame they can't/don't get too crazy with it all and allow Windower style blessings like buff timers and what not.
The party list sort stuff makes me want for an option that always displays a pt member's job beside their name. It's kinda something I got used to having after playing XIV for a year.
I thought their main reason for keeping PS2 support alive was because there were cafe places or something that let you play games and what not that still have PS2s there or something with the game available, and they didn't want to take away from that install base.
The vast majority of the Japanese player base is on PlayStation 2.
Have they released modern statistics for that? I find it hard to believe that that's still the case. At the very least they've moved on to PS3
PS2 released:
JP March 4, 2000
NA October 26, 2000
EU November 24, 2000
Win XP released:
Released to manufacturing August 24, 2001
General availability October 25, 2001
Win XP is "newer" than PS2, and yet has had its support discontinued (granted its by MS).
don't think sony supports the PS2 anymore either, at least not in NA/EU. Phasing out obsolete hardware and software is what happens, software being much more susceptible.
