Missed this reply, so to add to my wall-o-text DNC post above...

    1) The point isn't to buff your own DA, it's to give it to the heavy hitting 2H DDs.
    2) Level 10 is one thing, but for the actual potency/level there's room for adjustment.
    3) Contradance has too long of a recast to be a reliable tool.

TP/DW-overflow is what hurts DNC the most atm.
I wholeheartedly disagree. It's a minor impact that you can already work around pretty well by just not using DW gear when you're receiving heavy buffs. It's still something, and maybe something like store TP as you suggested would help (hell, you don't even need to put it as a trait, just give DNC decent amounts of Store TP on new DNC-only gear like the inevitable reforged Empyrean set), but fixing TP/DW overflow would result in zero meaningful change in the way DNC is played or the likelihood of it getting invited to group content.

Unity Concord? What is that suppose to be, maybe a Duty Finder type system?

I wish. That would fix a lot of problems finding parties for specific events but I wager that would be a nightmare to code.

I agree fully that another abyssea run would be great for the game. It was so much fun working toward the empy weapons and armor sets and every run gave you something to work towards. We already have the armor ready to update as well

-"Unity Concord": A new community system of some kind designed for larger groups than linkshells, details will be coming soon
From its description it sounds more like the advent of a free company type group rather a party finder / duty finder thing.

They said its for larger, but looser groups than linkshells. So it sounds like its the linkshells of FFXIV if the linkshells of XI can be likened to the FCs of XIV.

I feel like it might be easier to liken it to something like Campaign or WoE, as "more than a linkshell" seems to tell me more than 18 could participate.

Maybe it's an upgrade to Reive Unity?

It's clearly something made to address the problems with finding groups and improving the social aspect of the game, so I doubt it has anything to do with Reive Unity.

As for the possibility of another expansion, the thing is that the alternative is for them to make do with the areas they have, which I think would make them bleed subs after a while so I can only see them doing that for a few months. They could always laterally expand Adoulin's lore through quests though. Even with that at the very least I expect to get another addon at some point.

Unity concord makes me think about "Unity" in Campaign.
A new NPC where LS leaders will be able to create new "Unities" and sign up to them.

    Example:
    LS1, LS2, LS3
    LS1 leader creates group "U1".
    LS1, LS2 and LS3 sign up to group "U1".
All the LS chat logs of those 3 linkshells will be "merged" together into a single one and will stay like that as long as they remain within the Unity group.

About the story finishing in November... that's a great disappointment. It's kinda the confirmation that the ending will be rushed and that we will hardly get an answer to all the questions we have.
Now more than ever in the last 6 months, I want to know what are the teams's Long Term plans for FFXI.
I don't want a timeline with detailed tasks, just a general, rough idea of what they want to do from here onwards.
I seriously hope in a new expansion honestly...

    P.S.
Can it be reforged Empy gear time now? Ktnxbai.

Prior to SoA launching, wasn't there a translated interview where it was said they had two expansions in the works? Swear I remember that.

Still holding out hope that the missions deliver, there's really a lot of ground and characters to cover. Wonder how long we'll continue doing stuff in Adoulin as well. Assuming we still have Aluvion Yorcia and Ra'kaznar Skirmish and the last Delve in Ra'kaznar to look forward to.

I wouldn't mind a Adoulin: Part2 expansion. To furtherly expand the lore/plot while creating something that's still connected with adoulin and with its systems, but at this point I'm kinda skeptic on it happening.

why would you want to pay for something that we've already paid for, particularly something with such a mediocre setting as adoulin

Unfortunately the most reasonable continent to go to for continuity would be Razhowa. I still hope dear in my heart for Olzhyria, I've wanted it since before WotG.

This. But I don't think I'd mind if it was just somewhat linked with SoA, like we explore up north because August tells us the root of the troubles in Adoulin is there.

I really hope if they make another expansion they'll try to make the areas a bit more interesting this time. I didn't like how a lot of Adoulin's areas were hallways and rooms: the expansion (AKA XIV's The Black Shroud: The Experience).

    @Prothescar
I meant a new expansion adding new stuff (zones, monsters, content) not something that just adds new cut-scenes and recycles everything else.
It's just that it would be a shame to see all the Adoulin related content become completely irrelevant the second something new arrives, but that's what normally happens when a new expansion is released for an MMO so I guess it's kinda unavoidable.

I appeal to the "de gustibus non disputandum est" right when it comes to your latter sentence. Hard to create a final judgement until I've seen the end of it, but for now I liked SoA story way more than the silly WotG one and, arguably, more than the ToAU one as well. Totally not mediocre in my book, but I'll do my best to respect your tastes.

Hasn't that been the case with ToAU too? I remember a lot of people whined about that, me too.
WotG kinda doesn't count since it was a recycling of old areas but it partially applies to it when you consider the new ones.

I dunno... not denying the issue here, I guess I got "used" to that.
Imho it was much better than the original Black Shroud in FFXIV 1.0, which was completely horrible.
I felt there was something "lacking" in Adoulin areas, but I can't quite describe what. Overall though they didn't seem that bad honestly. Guess it has to do with personal expectations.
For something that came out of nothing when nobody was expecting a new expansion coming out, something likely developed with a severe lack of time and resources, it wasn't that bad in the end.

You and me both... I'm definitely hoping for an expansion into Olzhirya. I wanna see the Mithran homeland and learn more about the Great Southern Empire. There's also the islands of Garhada, Tsahya, and Zhwa in that region as well.

I wonder if the Great Southern Empire is Gha Naboh Matriarchate or something entirely different.

the reason that type of shit wouldnt work is because good players wouldnt use it. there is no reason to put yourself in the position to fail with the unknown variable that is random groupings. abyssea ruined the game by creating a generation of players that get angry whenever people tell them how to do their jobs, even though when theyre doing it wrong, they should be told so. if someone can 2box a job and be 2-3 times more effective and contribute WAY more to a group than you, yet "dont tell me how to do my job" is a response, then regardless of what you believe people will be glad when youve left the group, people will be irritated when you join the group, and no one, NO ONE, will /t you to join a group.

True, TOAU's areas had that problem too, but I guess they felt very different from the areas we had before, and the layout didn't feel quite as repetitious as many of the Adoulin ones do. You had two pretty different kinds of forest areas at the start, Arrapago with its thick fog and shipwrecks, Alzadaal with its gold linings everywhere. I think Grauberg/Fort Karugo/Vunkerl wasn't as bad with the rooms and hallways thing, but maybe that's because they only really needed to do 3 outdoor areas and redetail some of the old ones. Out of the Adoulin areas the one I think is probably the most interesting is Foret. Ra'Kaznar's pretty cool as the resident "weird endgame area", but nothing's ever going to match up to Al'Taieu probably. I agree getting Adoulin at all was pretty nice since we were treated to several years of mostly recycled areas before it.

And yeah, nothing comes close to the amount of sins that The Black Shroud committed, lol.
