Oh man I thought this was just prep for log in campaign not the actual update yay for having this Monday off
I'm just happy an update and log in prep maint lined up for once. Gets kind of annoying to have 1hr+ maint multi times a month when it's during your play time. I feel for EU players when updates used to happen at those times. I guess they wanted to make sure the update was out before the 11/11 thing started in Japan.
And servers down at EST midnight. Maybe they're spreading the pain of no game time around now.
Wtf how did this "The job ability Ready will undergo the following adjustments.
Familiars will be able to use special abilities if they have enough charge regardless of whether or not their TP is over 1,000."
Become this "The job ability Read will now enable the familiar to use special attacks even at less than 1000 TP as long as the charge requirements are met"?
Great a job ability just to be able to use a job ability and you still have to have the charges <.<
how is that different
One requires the use to another job ability first....
Uh I thought that was a typo?
the whole thing is riddled with typos..
fire the intern who did it i say.
Yeah there's a ton of typos, I don't think they gave the localization team the text that long ago based on how fast they probably had to type all that out.
wonder why they can't do it the way they handle XIVs patch notes.
they do that one really well.
I feel like they work mon-fri, 9-5 but also work per diem hours like when there's an update at midnight on a sunday, they have to log in to their account to get the notes and begin translating. Maybe their router went haywire or their connection sucked(likely updated remotely). Then after the poor overworked translator finished their translating(probably by some narrow deadline) they have to submit it to some web manager who then procides to upload it onto the site. At any rate, the translator could have had some technical difficukty or time constraints or had a bad day or was in a rush(sunday, midnight afterall, and i doubt the english translators live in japan, they probably live in the states but work remotely from home).
Seems they made a post today but nothing special that I can see. Just says they are working on the DEC update but not what is in it.
Bit busy the last few days so I haven't translated much since I didn't really see anything "important". A general rule with posts from Fujito is that they're pretty much never the sort of thing most people around here would be interested in. They're usually one of him musing about recent developments, being social with the players, or talking about some changes planned for Mog Gardens.
For those of you that enjoy speculating about the job point system, the packet that delivers job point information to the client changed a little bit this update. Formerly it used a repeating structure for each job:
* 2 bytes for current number of capacity points (number between 0 and 65535, currently capped at 30000)
* 1 byte for current number of job points (number between 0 and 255, currently capped at 200)
* 1 byte with no clear purpose (might be another byte for number of job points in case they want to expand it at some point)
Now they added:
* (new) 2 bytes that contain the total number of job points spent on the job. So if you're capped out right now, these bytes are 0x14A (330).
So you could speculate that the enhancement to job traits is going to be directly tied to the number of job points you have spent on the job, although it's unclear why the client would need this information.
I'm also pretty sure they reworked how the quests packet works, but that's not as interesting because the purpose is pretty obvious (to accommodate Unity).
wonder if it'll just be a blanket buff to job traits based on JPs spent, then. would make the more useless JPs better, but would make some jobs (SAM BLU WAR as examples) get a lot more out of it than others. It'd also make JPs even more depended on for job strength than they already are.
in b4 DW classes get biggerer dual wield
moar TP loss for buffed NINs
I don't see them buffing merit traits or giving new traits. I only see buffs to existing traits.
Most jobs have at least something "useful" somehow. Some more than others.
I think the only job really getting shit out of that is BRD. And uhm... BLU? BLU has no natural Traits so they'll have to think something different for BLUs.
They said this was just "the beginning" and that in the future they'll buff other stuff. Their exact sentence was something like "For now we're starting with Traits".
It's all good, the JP system saw several small tweaks here and there, and overall they're starting to matter.
I still think the system is still quite not where it should though. So many limitations, so many strange things to slow it down, and some jobs clearly have it worse than others.
My only hope is that SE isn't measuring the balancement of the current ratios including people who botted in the statistics (à la: "Hey look! This many people got this much JP, the ratios are perfectly fine!")
