Hmmm a new gifts page... did they change something?
I remember only needed 90 to cap all gifts. I think they raised the last gift from 90 to 95.
tsuperior.
Current dev post by Lomloon, he's going to look into making basically a Rainbow Gorget/Belt. +14 inventory fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk yeeeeessssssssssssssssss
Loose translation:
Thanks for the feedback.
There'll still be weapon skill adjustments, so I think this'll be a good time to discuss how we'll combine each gorget and belt into one.
Hope that means a Rainbow Obi too.
Regardless, I'm happeeey, happeeeeeey, happeeeeeeeeey
Well gorget/belt is just pure convenience but a rainbow obi would actually be convenient and have slight benefits too so they might be less likely to do that.
I'm losing you on that. Why would Rainbow Obi be any different than a Rainbow Gorget or a Rainbow Belt?
All of them are conveniences, but the Obis are a lot more annoying to use than the Gorgets/Belts, IMO (you need to match them to day/weather instead of just "this gorget goes with this WS"), and on any given job you usually take like 2 or maybe 3 of the elemental belts/gorgets whereas on BLM if you wanted to mix/max you would take all 8 of the stupid things with you everywhere.
Time to start collecting the belts gorgets and obis i don't have before shit gets congested. Might have to level thf to 99 just so i can despoil luminian tissues, i remember drop rates sucking on those.
Also id rather them just make a new belt than combine all belts only because i can see belt nms becoming congested for a few weeks as thousands of players flood abyssea to kill 15min respawn NMs.
Either that or make a variable synergy recipe that only requires 4 belts to make the omni belt.
Do obis of the composing elements work on level 3 scs? Like water obi on watersday for a dark sc for example.
The obis work on SCs, but are more complicated than that. Level 3 SCs only deal one element of damage, in priority based on the mob's resistance. So a dark SC would try to deal ice dmg first, if the mob resists that it goes to earth, then to water, then to dark. Also assuming this hasn't changed since the SC resistance patch (fairly sure that only applies to dmg, not to elemental priority)
So you may do a dark SC on iceday with the obi on, and it may normally work. But if you fight something that resists ice then it would change to earth dmg and then the obi would have no effect. (order is ice > earth > water > dark, and fire > wind > thunder > light just as an fyi)
Which is why without planning ahead and knowing mobs relative elemental weakness or using threnodies it is normally difficult to use obis. But if they combined them bam they would always work and since it boost the ws too double boost for the skillchain
It sounded like they were more going for combining a single set, not all of them. ie You'd have a rainbow gorget, a rainbow belt, and a rainbow obi. So you'd have to choose between boosting the WS (100% easy to do + indirectly upping SC dmg) or boosting the SC (not 100% due to resistance, priority, need to use threnodies/etc). Really doubt they're going to combine belt and obi into one item. Seems like a no brainer for melees.
Even on magical WSs a rainbow obi would probably still be hard to use to double dip in ws dmg and sc dmg. You'd need to use one with a priority element (fire maybe wind or ice maybe earth) that has SC properties capable of making a SC that matches your WS element on a mob that doesn't have resistances that would muck it all up as well as match the day/weather (sch can fix this last one). Unless you want to mess with level 1 SCs? Even then half the magical ws's have SC properties that don't work well.
Only one I can think of offhand would be cloudsplitter, but even then the mob would need to resist wind for that to work...
So, I have decided that the scary part of Su1 is how shitty the armor is. Apparently 50 job points entitles you to casual tier RoE upgrades. They will inevitably add a serious piece of armor to this system. We just dodged a bullet this time.
Obviously I meant magical ws... even stated that earlier
As far as element lining up... it is a bit harder to do on purpose but here's a few things you can. Say the day is of the skillchain element but not the be ws. Granted only 10% each but still nice. As far as likelihood well if you are doing level 3s not even accounting for choosing which one you do you have a 50% chance of getting the right day.
As far as resistance it's not about if the mob resists that so much as relative resistances so things like threnodies, ninjitsu, and lol rakye and am2 can change priority.
Cloudsplitter would actually require thunder resist to be lower than fire and wind... other ones magical capable of making lvl 3 of a same element include vidohunir, Garland of Bliss, Omniscience, Trueflight, and Leaden Salute. So is rarer than I thought... largely because a lot of the higher level magical ws only have lvl 1 properties.
Level 1s probably wouldn't be worth it and only level 2 one that wasn't in the level 3 list I could find using a high level ws was Cataclysm. Well I suppose there is always azure lore + elemental magic highjinks
The problem with these is they are all dark/light based damage... the last in priority in level 3 SCs. Even assuming you use threnodies or w/e to alter resistances, you still only get double bonus a fraction of the time. As well as 3/5 of those WS's are on mage jobs, which most people won't be meleeing on in an event.
So... trueflight and leaden salute.
No offense, but those two jobs seem more likely to have rdm support lately for flurry 2 (if the cor isn't focusing on support). This just seems like a lot of extra coordination and support for jobs that likely won't be getting melee buffs or meleeing in the first place to get a (admittedly decent) buff to ws/sc dmg when they aren't likely to sc in the first place.
