Tbf aside the recent "surprise" of Job Points there's hardly anything very time intensive in FFXI anymore.
Well I suppose RMEs but it's not like those are mandatory!

youre gonna have to make an adjustment to the way you spend the few hours you play. my first suggestion is to forget about anything related to missions that doesnt gate you from something that you require for the part of the game that matters(increasing your strength and skill to challenge difficult battles resulting in higher strength and becoming more skillful), and consider them on hold. the next time you log in, immediately shout ( provided you have access, which is an extremely easy and not time consuming if you dont dick around) for yorcia wield skirmish. it almost doesnt matter what you get, but black mages, geo's, rdm's, ect are good jobs you could recruit, a melee or two is also ok.

once you complete a set of yorcia gear for each job you consider "the jobs you play", now its time to change the shouts to outer rakez (again, access, get it, easy, google) and 119 all of that equipment. you can even augment that equipment further with stones dropped from that very skirmish. after that, youre in a position where you can meaningfully contribute to the next step up content level wise, in this case delve. there are a ton of complete runs of delves on youtube, but the one youre gonna wanna focus on first is tojil because its so easy. spend about an hour one day researching and asking people about tojil delve, and what is required and expected of you and what to expect.

this is where the real game starts, and where you may have to reevaluate how you play your jobs as many people have after experiencing delve. but after youve done some research just jump in, shout for the other 5 jobs you need and hack away. (dd dd cor brd whm stunner, or if youre friends with any players that are extremely skilled can 3box it just ask them to take you in and you can get the first win while spectating the run for experience. i say spectating because usually a 3 man setup like the one i use for tojil RDM SAM BRD, would actually suffer from another dd taking damage due to the nature of that particular setup.) after you have the win, you can the do oboro's JSE weapon quests, which is also easily googleable and everything required for them can be bought with gil, which you will have earned from doing the yorcia skirms, outer rak skirms, and the (at least one) delve.

continue doing delves for a bit, but if you dont seem to be able to get them together in a reasonable amount of time you can just skip on to the missions with your full set of 119 gear, do some shouts, get some trusts, or whatever you need to do to have the required skill sets to beat the boss either by you and your trusts or the party formation, and complete the missions in about 1-2 log ins. there are other ways of obtaining 119 equipment but this is by far the best way to do it without needing to do stupid shit like questing AF, upgrading it, ect. youll be able to follow that event schedual all the way to where you wanna be to complete your goal. anything you choose to do in between is gonna extend that unnecessarily. even if you dont get anyone in some shout set time limit, you can still enter skirmish alone with just trusts and be successful. the one thing with that is, it may take some trial and error for you to get the specifics down on what youre going to need to strategy wise to win, but this will surely be a better way than trying to do everything at once, feeling overwhelmed.

one thing to remember throughout all this is when you play with a group you made, its ok to ask questions and learn from the people youre with. you should pick up on things that you see people do wrong, right, what people ask of you if they seem to be asking for it a lot, ect, and make adjustments to your playstyle that will make all of those issues/constant requests (like "HASTE PLEASE") now non issues. your ultimate goal as far as what will take you to where you want to be in terms of end game status/gear(and by extension, being strong enough for the adoulin stuff youre unable to beat), should be providing the best possible contribution you can possibly make on the job youre playing. i mean, you can have personal problems with bits and pieces of doing it this way, but it sounds like you already have a problem with the way it is now, and the only person that can ever change that is you.

He was still using Teal when Adoulin came around, and finished his first Empyrean set when RoE came out?

And the number of hours people say would be needed to get the JP to unlock Su1, that's months (or worse) for me, for one job, if earning JP was all I spent my time on. That's horrible.
To be fair, you can't act like this is something new if it took you well into the life of SoA to get +2 Empy gear. I'd imagine it hasn't been since your younger/less busier days that you were brought along to anything geared as you've described, if you had, you wouldn't of been in AF/relic at Aby, +2 Empy midway into SoA, etc. Not trying to give you flack, everyone's got different priorities and responsibilities in life, but you can't exactly blame the design of an MMO on your availability, specially when FFXI's taken great strides in the get shit done solo areas of play.

I only play on Sun, for about 3-4hr. I usually solo for 30 min on weekdays because I am tired after work. I have around 140 jp and most of the ilv 119 gears I need for my jobs, and 2 ilv 119 legendary.

If you really want to progress, you can do so by using your time more efficiently and vice versa.

This has been announced fairly early! (Don't think an update has ever been announced a full month in advance)
The next version update is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2015 (JST).

Sink your teeth into the lore of Adoulin with quests featuring unexplored aspects of the main scenario, the addition of more Unity Wanted battles, and puppetmaster adjustments.

Also scheduled is the long-awaited ability to equip two linkpearls at once, along with other content that had been pushed back from December.

Steel yourself for an action-packed January!

They seem to be making noise about the 1H adjustment being overkill in that Freshly Picked thing.

From what I have been told(I don't play atm) Rudra is on a whole other lvl than fudo lol; we already wanted fudo/sc dmg to be nerfed so it make sense people will want rudra nerf too; at this point it feels like they just give us OP as shit stuff like when we cap everything and just murder stuff in offline rpg/ff.

Maybe they have something awesome ready for when they increase ilvl?

SA Rudra's is currently much better than Fudo, but the last Incursion I parsed there was a THF + SAM + RNG DD team and the SAM regularly crushed everyone regardless the THF's 22k WSs.

I do think their handling of Rudra's 2000 and 3000 TP points was overkill, though. The WS would be okay if it didn't scale from 6 fTP to 19.5 fTP.

    Totally not.
It's SA Rudra (or CF Rudra) that are.
I assume similar results could be obtained with a SAM going /THF and SAing Fudo. Altough SAM gets a worse choice (does it get it at all?) in terms of Cdmg gear and doesn't benefit from the additional bonus of DEX for SA and CHR for CF.

SA has a ~1 min CD and for the "OMG OSSOM" numbers you need 3000 TP.
    CF has similar limitations.
Fudo spam is done exactely at 1000 TP.

I can see the Rudra thing being eyeballed more because its spikes are more noticeable, but I'm sure damage over time still favors SAM (even without factoring multistep, where SAM would be even more king)
I do agree they kinda overdid things with Rudra, it was already insane (at 3000TP) before this patch, but it's curious to see how even after this SAM is still above.

    Edit:
    Byrth preceeded me ><

Technicality, but the CHR and DEX bonuses are a very small portion of Rudra's damage. The crit is really what matters (and +20% damage from Charis Tiara +2).

Yes but, again, those aren't directly bound to Rudra per se, it's the JA that makes it like that, and there's a cooldown behind that.
By the time you reach 3000TP and have the CD ready SAM has already shooted multiple Fudos, which is probably why in your parse SAM was still above.
Granted that, I assume, the gap has closened quite a bit, up to the point I think a lot of group leaders will actually be glad to bring a DNC or a THF now, and maybe THF will get into the "cool kids pt" instead that in the "not cool kids" pt (i.e. in the mage pt with no buffs )

So Terpi dnc is far from koga sam still? I wonder how fast a thf dnc nin party would clear AA/stellar now lol

No, I bet it's about level or a little better than Koga SAM and probably more useful if you consider Box Step. Vajra THF is likely ahead of both of them in cooperative play (aka if someone makes a multistep Darkness skillchain for them).

I can see that happening, but then again those situation requires very specific/situational setups, whereas SAM works like that everywhere without any specific thing, and they can gain an edge with multistep that they can produce at ease without anything specific (non terpsi DNC can do this to a certain extent, but not as good).
Also not sure that the following is true

Koga Sam : Terpsi DNC or Vajra THF = Tsuru SAM : Izhiikoh DNC or THF

Either way, in before Rudra (or DNC/THF) gets nerfed because they're not meant to get that close within SAM's domain.
