Honestly I do not know; I prolly wasn't the first on delve II since we didn't clear on day 1, like 80% of people on my ls quit when XIV got released and they didn't come back so we did rebuild from the scratch .

To make gil in XI I also abused server xfer, was able to double my gil per transfer(it's every 3 days now and can do 10 char per transfer), it's crazy the difference in price in shit like riverfin/rhodium ingot and a few other stuff I have a list somewhere if someone really care but if I ever play again(I hope they'll release something that make me want to play again) that's prolly how I'll make my gil now since my playtime is <1h/day since I have more responsibility at work than 2 years ago.

For Legion I wasn't even the first to clear mul on Asura lol I just think 21 was the most ?(I honestly don't know of any group that did more back then?) and the gil from legion was a shit ton too with good group.

We cleared Marjami on day 1 with a full alliance! First full EU alliance kill!11!!1! (I'm just joking, I don't know if we were the first and I don't care).
Eijin you're right with the delve selling thing, in my LS we used to make lots of gil from that too (altough we had much more people, so when we did split gil it was much smaller amounts).
That was a pretty stable source of money over time, regardless.
The big, big, big hit for me was another one though. Delve2 release, mats from megabosses to upgrade Relic armor. Yggdreant Bole and Waktza Rostrum. If you managed to kill those megabosses fast, those drops sold for almost 20mils each for the first days, and stayed at 10mils for several weeks, slowly going down.
If you had large amounts of plasm from Delve1, you can imagine how much gil you could make if you exploited in those days.
Some of my friends who are making 2nd or third mythic right now have to thank exactely that "exploit" for the amount of gil they still have to this day, and even if I started using it very late (I wasn't aware of it until a friend told me >.>'') I know it played a big role into my personal achievement of reaching over 350mils gil, which allowed me to complete one mythic and my level99 Daurdabla.

But it doesn't matter how fast you cleared, because we both know the vast majority of the gil came from selling clears. With that gone, your ability to make that much gil is severely diminished.

Check the Kumarbi Akar equip history. A lot of groups were totally capped on Legion gear before you even started. And Delve I was a matter of having the correct number of relic rangers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you weren't the first NA/EU to clear Yorcia or Kamihr Delve without beads when they were released, were you?

I'm not saying it's harder or easier to make an ultimate in 11 compared to 14, because I honestly don't know. I'm just saying the days of making 20-30m/day are long gone in today's FFXI outside of some really extreme cases.
I wonder if it's possible to make 20M~30M a day by farming scoria if you flee hack to ZNM with 3 mules. It only takes a few hr to farm 1 PW pop, with mules you can farm multiple pops together and save time. PW takes 15 min or less to kill with SAM. Scoria costs 7.5M~8M on my server, I bet you can find desperate buyers if you sell them for 10M.

You can't rely on desperate buyers if you're going to be selling in bulk. Regardless, ZNM is a timesink because they have not reduced the repop time for ???s.

All this talk about making gil and nobody mentioned AAs being released, when they were it literally shit gil in ridiculous piles for the first month. I paid for 3 mythics and a couple of relics in under 4 weeks during that period.

I know I'm late to this part of the debate, but I think this is the first time I've even bothered with the FFXI section in 2 months.

FFXIV is boring as fuck for everything but the first 2 weeks after a 'content' patch (every 6 months since the in between patch is a faceroll 'raid'). The gear system is basic and shallow because they are obsess over balance. The fights are all completely scripted to the order and speed at which mechanics happen (only one real exception in T7). Even T13, which is scary tank damage the first few times, once you learn your GCD timings you can do it without even thinking because you know to within half a second when to start pre-casting a cure/adlo/stoneskin.

It also doesn't help that they obsolete their content on a frequent basis, leaving you with a few farm dungeons and 4-5 raid fights that are relevant. As someone who doesn't enjoy glamouring the perfect outfit, or collecting pointless minions/mounts, FFXIV is a shallow and very simple MMO with pretty packaging.

FFXI has a deeply flawed battle system, now, because SE has never invested in the games upkeep the same way Blizzard or CCP did with their games. It's approach to adding endgame content and gear (which was added far too slowly) gave you a variety and sense of choice that FFXIV doesn't.

The last real post they made was on 12/18. There were a few telegraphed news announcements since then, but none of them were worth discussing because they were just talking points from the Freshly Picked.

I wonder when the version update will be and if it will have anything cool in it.

I don't think so outside of QoL changes and misc quests, they said JAN would be a light update unfortunately.

They mentioned carrying over the things that were intended for the December update, dual LS, some more Wanted, job changes, QoL, etc.

I'm left wondering if this is going to be the third update in a row with Wanted as the only content addition, or if the "content featuring the Xol Triumvirate" that was slated for December will also be included. Hopefully this stagnation is due to them working on some strong shit to bring about in the near future, Delve 3, an end game system to make use of Ra'kaznar, etc.

Due to the holiday seasons, the January version update is planned to be a somewhat smaller update.
We'll be implementing the "Linkshell 2" feature which we couldn't include in the December update, as well as new quests which will go deeper into the side-stories that couldn't be told through the "Seekers of Adoulin" missions.

    • New monsters for monster rearing
    • Expansion of the Mog Gardens

Also, in future we're planning Heroine's Combat-like content for Seekers of Adoulin. We'll share more details on this later, so please look forward to the future version updates!
I wonder if the "After February" thing wasn't actually supposed to be "After January." Regardless, we've got at least 2 months with essentially only Alluvion Skirmish v2 to look forward to.

Current Gift system goes up to 95 JPs which is only 2 categories worth of JPs. They could have released 2 or 3 more Gift systems (330 is the current max) before they'd need to release more JP categories to match them.

Okay, let me pose two questions to y'all:

    1) What superior level do you guys think will have the first R/Ex armor associated with it?

    2) Are there actual regular Job Point parties on your servers?

On Lakshmi I see a few Job Point shouts at JP times on the weekends and during the campaign there was an NA shout or two, but no one LFGs for it like an old merit party and I've honestly not sure I've ever met anyone that had a good experience with Lakshmi's shout parties.

Think we'll see more crafted gear carrying the Su1 tag, with Su2 containing RF Empy. Know most aren't a fan of that, but I get the feeling we'll RF Empy the same way we do AF and Relic, and Su2 will be the actual blockade to using the gear rather than getting the mats/chapters. I'd imagine shortly after it's introduction we'll see a massive boost to CP potential, whether through full time 2x, new content that awards entire JPs easily, or any other form of fuck-assery they like to do. inb4 here's an all jobs belt with +200% CP.

On Bahamut, I wouldn't call them common by any stretch, but they do happen occasionally. As you said, the Japanese population seems to be more willing to put together runs. I think it might all be a byproduct of the way content is setup now. My group does most content together, Delve, Skirmish, BCs, etc. If we need merits to get some BCs going, we just go into Woh Gates for 30 minutes and restock. If the double campaign comes around and someone that always comes Whm wants JPs on another job, we switch off and specifically farm them. Most other groups we've run across at camps (cause who actually /searches a camp anymore? lol) have been similar, 6ish members all of the same LS.

It's just like most things in this game I think. Either you're dedicated/good enough to do it on your own, you have your own ready to go group to do it, or you're stuck out in the cold complaining about how terribad the system is because you're left with shout groups as your player pool.

And idk about Asura, but Bahamut's shout groups aren't much better. There's certainly some repeated leaders that do well, but the majority have no idea of how to actually play. They take the "winning strat" that they heard about, apply it in a piss poor way with equally piss poor geared/played characters, and proceed to wipe on Tenzen N, any Delve, AA Ns, etc.

After the previous patch (which introduced Gifts) totally yes, especially during the double CP campaign.
Now I wouldn't say there are regular pts... but you see shouts from time to time.
When I shout to create PTs I usually fill up within 20 mins max, unless I'm very unlucky.

Before Gifts I could go on for HOURS and get no tell at all, except those from noobs who of course couldn't reach the steep requirements for Woh Gates #1 camps.
Never seen LFG but honestly who LFGs since when Abyssea died? I mean even outside of XP/CP, I haven't seen people LFG for years.

I'd like to start up some parties every time I log in but I feel if the CP campaign is not on and you don't get a COR for rolls, the JP/hour will be very slow and depressing, regardless of kill speed.

It's hard to get an average CP/hr because I have a 42% cape and a variable amount of Gifts CP bonus according to the job I go as, but I'd say the real value without any bonus is probably around 120k/hr? Definitely more than 100k/hr for sure though.
If you don't get a COR main, make someone go /COR, it usually doesn't affect kill speed and it offers a small additional CP/HR bonus.

CP/HR in Woh Gates map#1 is still better, but those mobs have pretty steep requirements.
Bats camp in map#2 is so relaxing instead, you hardly need healing and pretty much any job can DD there as long as they eat sushi and you get some support (double madri and/or Hunter's roll and/or Geo Buffs etc)

As I was saying in the Job Points thread, the real issue here is that there isn't another camp as good as the Bat ones.
Yes, there are other "viable" camps in the new gates map#2, but nothing comes even close to the awesomeness of the Bats camp, where you get Piercing weak mobs who don't link and don't use any particularly annoying attack.
In other camps you have paralyga, slowga, other dangerous moves etc, forcing you to be more picky on the jobs you invite.
For instance a GEO or a BRD or a SMN can easily mainheal at the bard camp as long as they have cpot gear and people doesn't pull 20000 bats together.
In other camps you'd need a real healer instead, and he would have a lot to work with all those erases etc.
Buffers would be annoyed by their Haste/Haste2 being overwritten, or their buffs being dispelled etc etc.

So... really, since there will hardly be new zones added, we can at least hope SE will change monster placement in some of those zones and create more viable camps compared to the Bats one, whose only issue is not having enough mobs to suit high level pts

Yes, but then you'd need to max all current categories in order to max gifts, which I don't think I'm speculating to much about when I say is not the intention of the system.
