the whole agreement seems pretty standard.. and i think its nearly identical to the ones that community fansites have to abide by already. they're all fairly reasonable.

as for the music one, i personally get really annoyed when i want to look for gameplay videos of FFXI and all the ones I find have people swapping out the audio for something they like. I know, fanvids are common and all, but sometimes you want to know what the original is supposed to be like.
but yeah i believe its gotta do more with youtubes content policy. they're especially strict on that one now

I prefer just listening to the gamesounds myself (and preferably no voices either), but the problem isn't the amateurish "lol look at me fight this boss guys" videos, it's that the rules are too broad and also prevents people from making edited fan videos like this:

I'm guessing they only reason you can't use other music is because said music is copyright and people don't bother getting permission for that stuff. SE doesn't want to get sued when someone uses a One Direction song outside of fair use in their video.

I can translate a bit when I get time, I just usually don't since Slycer does a way better job than I would. I don't know what background he has in the language but I only have a couple years of in-class study of the language, rest of it is self-taught, and i've never actually lived in Japan (so if they speak in slang I'm often screwed).

First post about Faith: In february(i'm guessing typo), they want to fix Curilla's crappy tanking ability, and want to adjust if faiths are affected by BP/Samba/adding Phantom roll job bonus/automaton cures/curing breath/wild carrot/geomancy.

Adding <stnpc> type text command that ignores Faiths.

Fixing Eminent Pole.

im in the same situation as Kin.. not as well versed in Japanese as Slycer..

can confirm what he said.. altho I don't know if the Feb update thing is a typo - they've already translated another dev note regarding all the known issues for Trust, coming in the Feb update... which appears to be the next major ver up. Theres one more later this month for 4 alter egos and i believe there was mention of another one in January.

also for those who don't know Faith is the japanese name for the Trust system.

Yay new dev posts last night. Only important thing I can take away with translation tools is it looks like they are going to change it so that the dmg RoE quests will use total dmg instead of per hit. So get those multi hit ws huge dmg ones in while you can lol. And hope they don't break it so it counts AoEs as 1 too

I'm not sure what the first post is referring to. Apparently some killing enemy trials don't count if you do them in Abyssea? I'm not sure which ones he's talking about. The dev response says it's intentional but they are planning to adjust it so Abyssea counts. Again, there's really no context to the question so I'm not really sure what it's talking about exactly.

Second one says that for damage-based trials multi-stage WSes currently look at damage per hit rather than total damage, and they will be changing it so they look at total damage.

Last two comments they addressed were something about the way home points are numbered, and then a question asking them to make the default set up a new home point rather than overwrite one. Dev response says they will try to fix that in a future update.

Is there something in the JP dev tracker from the past couple days that wasn't translated into English officially?

My only beef with the new home points is theyre not really labeled when you want to use them. Short of putting a postit on my screen, how am I supposed to know which sky HP corresponds to which AA?

I actually have more trouble with the town ones. The sky ones at least have a pattern. There is no rhyme or reason to the AH or exit ones.

Theyre all pretty bad like that, I just used that one as a huge example, since they could have very easily been named "Home point HM", "Home point MR" and it wouldnt affect any localization since all the AA's are named EV MR HM TT GK regardless of client.

Since Abyssea's exp system is different, it's not counting for Records quests that require you to kill monsters that give experience points on defeat. That's what they're talking about here.

Yorcia Skirmish left a really bad taste in my mouth and there was an entire month there that I logged in solely to accumulate points for one of the continuous login campaigns. At some point I realized how ridiculous that was and I just stopped logging in entirely. I did mostly switch to FFXIV when it came out and whenever I checked back in almost everyone I knew was either offline or AFK (combination of nothing to do on game and several people switching over to XIV), and it was just kinda sad. I think we had like two LS-coordinated activities after Yorcia came out because Delve wasn't even worth doing anymore. My service account is still active, but I'm just wasting money at this point and probably will cancel this month.

The most recent updates seem to have added some exciting new content, but I doubt I have anyone to go back and do that content with, and yes, I've been playing 14 and I don't really have time for both. I do really wish these recent updates had happened earlier, but alas. I still follow the updates because I'm interested to see where the game's going, and I'll probably come back at some point as they advance the storyline of SoA some more so I can see it through to the conclusion, but I don't really see myself playing regularly again. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's in this kind of situation.

As far as translating stuff goes, I haven't really played through any XI content since a few weeks after the release of XIV, but I've still been check the dev posts and translating the important ones. I really burned out last week on translating because I spent an enormous amount of time translating those various Yoshida press interviews, so I didn't bother to check the XI stuff at all.
