I just started monster rearing, it's, OK, but it's just a click a few times a day and that's it. Monstrosity was actual content, and fun, too.
Sure, it has no real rewards besides the fun in playing it, but they could just as easily add rewards to it like they did monster rearing.
Also, a buff from a monster you embodied and leveled makes a lot more sense than one from a Tamagotchi you poked and fed. Shit, you don't even get mini games to play with the damn things. (in before...)
English Goddess Gala site doesn't have the information about the chorus collaboration thing.... yet. (maybe it never will.... Haven't read the info yet but here's the link for it. I'm fully expecting hipster latin to be the language asked to be sung.)
But the English site DOES have the generic other stuff.... smh.
Hipster latin, for those not in the know, is "Esperanto." It's a dumb dead latin ripoff that only hipsters and the Japanese use. (They use it because it's easier than English or German for them to say, and it sounds like Latin while being esoteric enough for it to not clash with a setting. So no "why do the aliens speak english" happenings. It's the language sung in FFXI's opening FMV.)
It was made with the hopes of dethroning English as the common tongue since really only Germanic people don't have issues learning English... but... they made a harder to learn, funny sounding Latin.
And NO ONE speaks it.
It's a wonderful example of people not understanding how language works.
EDIT: trollololol I can hardly call this singing. All they want you to do is "sing" "lalala".... I suppose asking people to try and read Esperanto would have been too hard...
Though I would hardly call this a choral.
It's more like a background accompaniment.
New HTB makes me happy as shit. Especially if Fenrir and I can just rock it with Snapweed.
I want another carbuncle fight!
If they did a Carbuncle Prime II they should use Fenrir's model, keep the fangs, make it look like carby and give him a radioactive dot aura!
re: the monster rearing stuff, one of the old interviews made it plain that the whole farmville-xi thing could be blamed on one individual at SE really pushing it. it was "his baby" or whatever. don't remember who, don't care, but like most things I think they squandered a great opportunity for tying it in with other stuff already in-game (colosseum/pankration, chocobo raising... hell, why can't i take cute zeni pics of the monsters i raise? surely that old bastard sanraku has to have a heart!)
if you pay attention to the OF, i take SE to task a lot (only when they deserve it, though, which turns out to be often) - and i'm a big proponent of monstrosity because i've been having fun with it. i want to see it continued to its logical conclusion. their inability to effectively communicate with us, though, really grates on me.
I think a couple of the upgrade paths on those torques were actually best in slot- and at least one still is.
Adding in monster parties would have made it a lot more fun and fully opening up PvP would have been a great chance for them to make a PvP option that gave some sort of reward without impacting the game as a whole too much.
Unfortunately, the monster rearing requires less programming and time, I wager
But on the update, it looks pretty solid thus far. It's great we are getting new content and, hopefully, improvements to Escha.
Obligatory "fun is subjective" reply, but I'll give you a specific example. Old LS mate came back for the free week period, wanted to know what to do first. On teamspeak I walked him through the Gladiator/monstrosity bit without fully explaining what was going on or what would happen. Lured him out to Buburimu and killed him with my Behemoth. That was fucking fun. Sure it was pointless, frivolous, but we had a laugh about it and it was a good time.
To me, monstrosity is a more-fun way to farm crystals and seals than running around blasting elementals. I'm not sure if it's just the Naja Unity (because I haven't tried any others yet) - but most of the daily unity RoE objectives also map out pretty well to belligerancy zones. You can find the right type of monsters to kill, so you can stack up the RoE objectives and finish them pretty quickly for sparks/accolades. It might not be the most efficient way to do it, but to me it's fun.
If you quoted/read my entire post instead of just cherry picking one sentence, you would see that I mentioned the lack of reward, which could have easily been fixed.
Also, yes, to me it is fun. Just being able to go back to old zones and exp camps that no one has gone to in years, is amazing nostalgia. It brings back some of the best things about this game, all while getting rid of the tedious crap that wasn't fun.
Hours lfg? Nope, easy solo. (although the option to party would be a great addition, iirc they were "working on it") Slow exp taking hours to level? Nope, it's a lot faster, even more so now.
Yeah xping as a monster is way more fun than it ever was as a player and if they had added all the things they said they were going to it would be even more so. Only reason I don't still do it is because I literally got every torque max ranked and unlocked and lvled everything to 99 over a year ago and have still been waiting for them to add the things they promised 2 years ago
Pleased that my guess was right here and high tier battles aren't deadIt's actually a pretty sensible way to add some additional content in the non-Rhapsodies updates since there's not much work to be done to already existing content to update it for ilevel difficulty and add some rewards. My bets are on Fenrir and Carby, and maaaaaybe Diabolos. I doubt Odin/Alex reappear since they already had revamped fights. Cait was ignored for so long that it just seems fitting to ignore again lol.
Hoping this means that there's a chance of another set of high tier battlefields, I'd really like some WotG fights and it just irritates me that it seems so incomplete that we have RoZ, CoP, ToAU represented... and no Wings. I'd dig a new "Purple, the New Black" (the dragon fight with that awesome music), and Lilith fight.
I want an ilvl ToAU last mission fight (blu then alex) was my favorite bcnm back then
