Death to BST
For a job that spent the better part of a decade being among the worst dd in the game, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to excel for a while.
But if they kill BST, they're killing part of FFXI.

Most of the soloing power of bst your talking about already got nerfed when spur was ganked.
I dont think even the best bsts can solo those bcnms now like they could. Maybe the super pimped out, billions of gil worth of gear bsts can do it, but my half assed mediocre geared bst has no hope of touching that.
Yeah, 100% I can't do those fights anymore. I was pushing the time limit hard with 15% more damage. I can't even do EV D anymore. Can still do others D though.
And RDM solos all the avatar on VD so...?
Edit: And so far only I and Falkirk, as far as BST who post anywhere on the internet, have soloed any VD AA fights. This isn't a common thing.
RDM can solo avatars on VD? And to think I was proud of duoing them on D...
Where do you see fenrir on VD? I only see his D video.
POLUtils shows no new items/armor/weapons/KIs etc for me on this update. Prolly just animations or models that got tweaked.
I've rarely been on the side of whiners screaming "Nerf this!" in the past, and it's the same now for BST. Given the current state of the game, I care even less than I did in the past.
I'm not sure if the nerf to SC is gonna be beneficial for the game, time will tell.
My personal very very humble opinion about BST is that if they had to nerf something, it had to be a small (SMALL) nerf to Unleash (nerfing SC will indirectly nerf Unleash, so maybe it's gonna be ok?) and to the Ready timers.
SE doesn't acknowledge this as an issue, but imho 10 seconds Ready, with some very powerful and disposable pets, doesn't seem very balanced to me. Maybe a nerf to Charmer's Merlin or to the gift would have been a better way to "fix" this?
In the past SE said that managing pets, giving them commands, keeping them alive, requires more work than, say, a DD spamming WSs on a target. In light of this, it sounds fair that Master+Pet can deal a bit more damage than a single DD alone.
I like this perspective and I think it's good for the game.
Still, the current situation we're seeing with BST is different. The pet does that damage alone, and you get the advantage of easily disposable pets, etc etc.
tl;dr, it's a lot of pros, with hardly any con.
In a balanced scenario the pros of having disposable pets that you can sacrifice "ignoring" debuffs, damaging AoE etc, should be counterbalanced by something. Probably by slower kills/damage I guess.
I'm not sure this is happening with BST atm, or if it is then it's not a difference big enough.
And it's exactly why it's so "convenient" to use BST strategies against many targets atm, and exactely why many people are bandwagoning BST.
It's always that reason that makes people bandwagon a job or another.
the easiest fix to bst would be to make the pets lvl vary by average ilvl the master is wearing. in other words if the master swaps out to lower ilvl stuff the pet automaticly gets weaker. There BST fixed.
their pets should suffer the same penaltys as players in terns of defense when haveing lower ilvl withou a call beast mainhand ilvl trick
that is a plausible solution. but considering the fact that BST who gear for their pet have a very limited number of pieces of gear with unique stats to work with, forcing them to pick from only ilvl gear would be immensely cruel to BST.. especially since some non ilevel gear are simply in a league of their own. I've not been playing, but i believe nothing comes close to Anwig Salade's Pet:DT-10%, for example. i think SE was well aware of this for the pet jobs and chose to use the sachet / animator / weapon option for the pets.. which quite honestly is a lot more fair.
Don't nerf Dancer. It sucks too much to need a nerf.
However, Dragoon does need a nerf.
