More than extreme, you don't need a mythic to do any content in this game at all.

Maybe not, but at the very least I and many others around here are not taking a PLD who doesn't have Burtgang anywhere that matters. And these people are the target audience for -1 gear, others don't matter.
To the original point though, honestly even if the supply does skyrocket, at the very least the wide array of material cost and availability for the body synths is so prohibitive that, from what I've seen so far, it's not the legion materials that people need to really worry about. This is why even if they make legion free to enter and shit, I'm still not worried about that even a fraction as much as I'm worried about a SP gobbiekey campaign.
Serica cloths, ethereal squama, dawon pelts, Plastrons, etc etc etc. Can be like me and be sitting on 50 ormolu ingots right now without a way to reliably do large batch synths because of every other god damn material.
I wasn't around for it, but the other day I was discussing the high number of Huginn Hauberts (according to FFXIAH) compared to say, any other huginn piece, especially considering how almost nobody was 110 GSM during the time when legion was relevant and the fact that they were (are?) T0. The majority consensus was that the last gobkey campaign shit out uncursed legion gear / +1s.
Since I wasn't playing then I don't really know though.
I don't remember anyone talking about those coming from the gobbie key event. I've gotten NQ uncursed from gob before though. Wasn't during the event. NQ/HQ cursed can come from the Roc BC during the event going on now but that's been mentioned already.
Oh I see just an assumption... well you know what they say about assumptions... Anyways it is almost likely that it came from vanafest 2012 gobbiebag contest as 3rd prize came with HQ uncursed hexed gear and was actually iirc the major source of a lot of our augment info since at the time it was hq only for augments and like you said T0. There were 1000 winners and iirc you had to fill out what you would want from each rank of prizes ahead of time so couldn't wait and see which augs were good for rank 3.
Hmmm well I'm gunna have to say Poidh. Yes it did enhance the rate of good stuff but going thru our own gobbie box thread there isn't a single report of any crafted HQ gear. And that includes the times where I went thru the peek option several thousand times back when I was trying to narrow down possibilities
Plus it also seems odd that it would "shit out -1s" as sath put it and there be zero word of it over here
edit: nothing in there gobbiebox thread either about it....
Anyways switching gears here back to the whole new hexed stuff the first thing SE said about it was "new methods to further enhance hexed equipment"
Wut?
Mythic weapons are nice but if anything post-SoA the gap between RME players and non RME players is smaller than it was before, given how much better weapon options are available.
I'd say it's quite the other way around.
Aside from a bunch of impressive RME weapons, the rest are more personal achievement items than things "necessary" to play the job.
Anyway about the hexed thing, it makes no sense.
It can't be the original item with new augments (even before they already have an augment slot and I doubt they could add more).
It has to be a bad translation and they mean upgraded 119 versions of those items which will allow for further/different augments. Or maybe the same identical augments but on 119 gear, dunno, it has to be something like that.
Personally I don't think those hexed items were ever "OMGIMPOSSIBLETOGAUGE" to begin with. I mean, we all remember the outburst of emo people who had been spoiled to abyssea-quality items (and abyssea-easy content...) and were utterly disappointed by Legion. We all remember the posts complaining about that and SE replying "yeah ok but check at the augments plz!", right?
There were a few awesome items. I remember Huginn Feet, some of the SAM/MNK/NIN set were nice (legs, hands?), there was at least one nice item for WHM, then the Spurrina Hat for Refresh. But all in all how many pieces were really awesome, and how many others were sidegrades, pieces to show off because of how rare they were, or just pieces which were simply "meh"?
About the mats: they could add something to the new RoV Curio moogle NPCs? With a high price it could be a viable option to provide an influx of mats on the market.
Honestly, as ever, people are welcome to play this game however they want. But if you think people are clearing this content early and often with people who aren't geared in the absolute best for their jobs? Straight lols.
For me, if you want to play a job in the same vicinity as me, you don't slackass. For the jobs who have mythics that are unquestionably better (see my example of koga and burt) you will have them or you don't play the job.
As usual, just posting re: my perspective on things. You want to bring your anahera tabar + svalin PLD to whatever you do? Go for it. More power to you.
Edit: hell, nobody is actually allowed to play GEO as their main in anything I'm in unless they have an Idris. If you don't have an Idris you are worth less than my mule, play something else. Etc etc etc.
Reality check: missed.
Mythics aren't a requirement to clear anything.
