What's so strange about the response?

Someone asked about giving Blue Mages throwing skill, since they can use throwing weapons (I assume).

SE responded that they don't want Blue Mages to be good at ranged attacks, so even if they did give it to them, it'd be a low rating and wouldn't matter anyway. Then, they explain that they put throwing weapons on BLU to give them pulling options, and the option to get Snapshot to enhance that pulling.

It's more confusion over the fact that BLU gets so many chakrams while the other ToAU jobs have C+ Throwing skill despite being unable to ever practically use any.

I think they wanted blu to just have a ton of options so imagined them having to be pullers potentially in places where magic was a bad idea. I mean this is the job that can imitate monsters... so of course it can throw a Frisbee for 0 dmg

More annoying than just generally giving ToAU jobs C+ throwing is the fact that pup has throwing skill yet needs to have a animator and/or oils to play the job. So unless throwing skill has somethign to do with animators or your puppet its a even bigger WTF SE!

Yay, they're making it so trusts can get hit with AoE healing temp items. That will help a ton with soloing VW.

I always thought it was dumb they didn't work to begin with. Same with temp items you can get from treasure caskets.

I'm still convinced it's explained by simply being a mistake. C+ throwing skill was MEANT to be added to BLU (with all of the Chakrams, this makes perfect sense), but accidentally got added to PUP. Makes a lot more sense than the weird rationalization going on to try to explain.

Similar ToAU mix-up: the names of the music tracks for Odin and Alexander fights just must have been inadvertently swapped. "Iron Colossus" (the Odin's Chamber BGM) surely should be for when you fight Alexander, who is - wait for it - an IRON COLOSSUS. And Ragnarok is the great battle of Norse mythology involving Odin and the einherjar... so, probably makes sense for "Ragnarok" to be the title of the Odin's Chamber fight and not the Alexander battle, no?

Ragnarok was the name of the cataclysm caused by Odin fighting Alexander in Aht Urghan's backstory, and the battle Ragnarok originally played in involved Odin and Alexander facing off and risking recreating Ragnarok. That name makes perfect sense, at least.

I guess PUP's throwing skill can be explained lore-wise with their use of the animator, and the throwing daggers on their empyrean armor, and I guess juggling

And what about the Odin's Chamber fight says "Iron Colossus" to you?

Seriously though, I know Ragnarok got tossed around in the story that also involved Alexander... But here's some background on Ragnarok (the Norse mythology concept) from www.viking-mythology.com:
This will be the battle to end all battles, and this will be the day that all the Vikings “Einherjar” from Valhalla who had died honourable in battle, to pick up their swords and armor to fight side by the side with the Aesir against the Jotuns.

Odin will with his eagle helmet equipped and his spear Gungnir in his hand, while riding on his horse sleipnir, lead the enormous army of Asgard with all the gods and brave einherjar to the battleground at Vigrid.
Ya really don't think that's a perfect fit with the Odin's Chamber final Einherjar fight?

The music swap was 100% a mistake and no one can convince me otherwise.

They keep insisting on the wrong things on Ninja.
At this point I doubt anybody care for NIN being a viable tank, but until they make some serious tweaking to Yonin, I really don't see NIN being able to efficiently tank any content that couldn't otherwise be tanked by almost any other DD.
Altough I guess the enmity changes would make it hard it, nowadays, to keep hate. NIN probably doesn't have this issue thanks to Yonin, the enmity Ninjutsu and Provoke from /WAR. But they still need some realistic form of damage mitigation that's reliable against targets that strip your shadows.
We can currently get 6 Shadows with Utsusemi San, but it could be 60 and it would still be useful against targets that spam abilities that strip you completely of shadows.

"Hey, so your Vagary reward system premise scares me. If it's like X, it will be horrible."

"Yes, indeed we are doing it like X. That's a good system."

Did they... not read the question?

While I don't like it, I can understand their reply. I think all of us can if we spend a few minutes trying to put ourselves into devs' shoes.
Random system, while random, it will still be something additional that we don't have now, so it can't be worse than the current situation.
At the same time stuff like Tartarus Platemail is kinda the Carrot on a Stick that, despite all whinings, keeps some players doing the content, i.e. keeps them busy, gives them something to do.
If they allowed people to buy stuff with a currency, everyone would be done with Vagary in a few weeks and start ignoring the content after that, pressing SE to release new content because they "have nothing to do in game".

This way SE hopes Vagary will last longer.
Call it a gamble, but their position is understandable imho.

I would've liked a currency system as well but oh well.
