I think he's exagerating.
BLU is a bit too powerful maybe, but it doesn't seem to me it's too "dangerously" powerful or that it can give birth to an excessive focus on BLU exploiting certain strategies.
If they were to nerf BLU then they'd have to nerf DNC next, then SAM, and it would be a never ending cycle honestly.
Only thing where maybe BLU is rightfully a bit too powerful is in AoEing stuff, but the only practical use I can think of for that is in CP pt. Do we really care if there's an unbalanced job for CP pts?
I mean, not fair maybe, but can't really put something like this on the same boat as people exploiting BST or other similar exploits in the past.
Well, we have a fantastic BLU in our ls who, with an idris GEO, frequently hits from 7k-10k+ with weapon skills, can self skillchain, can MB an easy 20k with Flow and thunder spells (with weather bonuses), and has repeatedly hit 99k on Sinister Reign mobs with Tenebral Crush (I think that's the name). The sheer amount of damage they can do with buffs still dwarfs what any other melee can do with those same buffs, especially with magic defense/evasion down bonuses....
I think my PUP and automaton does just fine with those buffs but without the burst damage from spells like BLU get, its impossible to keep up.
BLU is OP as shit but 90% of them are absolute garbage.
lets not assume that you can just ding 99 BLU and go apeshit. The job requires heavy spell farming and your inventory will literally EXPLODE. i have never seen a job need so many equip sets like blu, gearing bst or any other job back to work after hitting 99 is like a cakewalk compared to Blus investment in there. while BLUs do good dmg they cant ignore gimmick stuffs like BST can and can eat dirt fast if they dont give alot of caution in gearchoices/spellchoices.
Um other jobs aren't that far behind or they can keep up. I've parsed with many other DD with the same buffs and they can come close like SAM or COR. BLU requires a lot of effort to be good and is susceptible to AOEs and debuffs unlike BST. Let's not start the witch hunt now.
You forgot DNC Draylo
Nin seems pretty powerful right now on paper but I see absolutely no one playing it.
I was just using those two jobs as an example not the only ones. NIN is actually really fun, I've been gearing it up and playing it a lot recently. With San you can avoid so many attacks and I've been tanking a lot of T1/T2 in Escha easily w/o losing hate to mages at the least. Only annoyance is if you get hit by slow or paralyze but they can be removed fast and you deal more dmg than a PLD.
I think 90% is kind. But this has always been the case. Great job unrecognized because so many fail at it. Odd though how some jobs can have a few players really push it into peoples minds and make people think it's OP rdm being the classic example. While others people still just wont care
BLU is also quite dependent on JPs/gifts to really shine. Probably one of the most dependent. 55 set points to start, 5 from merits, and currently 15 more from JP. The 100 and 1200 gifts can also be utilized to significant extent. Can wind up with a job that packs in tons of useful traits, particularly for melee, but it takes a lot of work to get there.
Being fair, of course, BLU has no traits to boost with gifts. The trait tier boost gifts more or less stand in for those, where other jobs are getting more specific (if inflexible) bonuses.
IMO, if there's an imbalance, it's likely something that could/should be handled by tweaking JP/gifts. BLU probably represents the ideal kind of progression you get from them, where other jobs might stand to see better.
New info on job adjustments
Cutting 2 minutes off of Apogee and increasing ranges for smn pet commands. Smn really making out
All the drk stuff seems rather meh.
drg is interesting... guess now your wyvern is a tp battery and spirit link becomes an extra ws every 90 seconds not bad.
Pup not bad either... can use all 3 frames effectively and I guess spam maintenance more?
I love how they including spur for bst though... the ja is practically useless as is only a use when you got nothing else to do... guess now it will be a never thing.
Oh wow, those DRK adjustments are pretty sweet. I mean, they won't make people bring DRK to stuff they don't melees to, but that's great stuff.
Can get 7000 HP for 3/5 minutes on stuff that doesn't have MDT, Scarlet Delirium is actually decent now, and Absorb duration will be nice.
Oh geez didn't realize you could drain that much now. That's kind of good
Hopefully the BST nerf is within 10'.
15' or 18' (SMN's current range) from pet will still essentially make you '20 from the NM (and possibly more from larger NMs) since pets tend to engage at max range. With a tank opposite side of pets, I guess nothing will really change and most groups will continue playing the lazy 1-button dash.
Even if SE heavily nerfs BST the playerbase is not going to adapt to whatever this dream strat of the bst nerf enthusiast is. For most escha stuff you'd be looking at a shift from bst to rng or blm strats.
