Moon phase minorly affects some fish behavior in real life, and thus fishing if targeting them, so that has logic to it, unlike day of the week or direction with crafting.

I never leveled a craft above level 3. Thus in theory I could have a 100% synthrate on T0 synths facing West

Ya, that 30 minutes they lost over several years of crafting really slowed em down good.

Shit like "craft only during X moon phase" chewed up a lot more than that on some people, as it'd only come up once every 3 1/2 days of realtime. Add in "craft only on X elemental day" and it was an even smaller window. I can remember to this day people on my LS who religiously stuck to this when I was doing Clothcraft on my first account back in the early 2000's...and I ended up leaps and bounds ahead of them as a result, despite spending similar amounts of material and Gil.

I dunno about you, but I can grind out quite a bit of crafting in 3+ days.

Had a guy who believed in all of that and he'd literally set his alarm for middle of the night if need be to craft on X Moon - Derpsday or w/e it was. The rare time Cursed Hauberk -1 or something would pop, it was like "See! Moon phase / day / direction IRL / direction in-game matter!"

When I made my Curse Hauby -1 WAY back in the day (2006?). I saved up mats for 40-50 synths and waited over a month for the perfect time, moon, weather etc. Went 1/1!

I have 8/8 macc and have not unlocked buffalo in either.

It doesn't mention anything about the Buffalo unlocked in Monstrosity, he's just relating it to the current event. Leveling a monster to stage 2 (I'm assuming unlock say, another skin for the rabbit, or something, ANYTHING) gets you the effect.

Fujito: The "Blazing Buffalo" event has started. This time, the "Buffalo Cap" is available. This grants a baby Buffalo costume effect! It is the same one from the Mog Garden. Also, there's been talk of Monstrous Pledge (Monstrosity) and a connection. When you obtain one of the monsters at stage two, the "God Marks" (Vorseal) effect=Magic Accuracy/Magic Evasion is enhanced.

I got Slime to 30 (I think) to unlock one of its variants. I wonder if that counts.

I wonder what they mean with "level 2" though.
It can't be the level you get through XP, they probably mean "rank 2" in something? Are there ranks in monstrosity or something else?
Just getting a mob to level 2 sounds way too easy.

Monsters evolve at certain levels. For example at lv 15 a crab can turn into a vermillion crab, it's one of the basic underlying elements of Monstrosity and is part of what made it so addictive. They probably mean that.
