lollers, acumen nerf inc
I hope they give up on the mobile version idea and just decide to revamp this for PC. Wishful thinking I know, but who knows what they planning at this point with 0 info out. I doubt they scraped the whole idea but maybe they are reworking it somehow.
I dunno, with the story concluded once and for all because of RoV, it kinda kills the possibility to have more expansions, and revamping the PC client without that in mind sounds like a waste of money on their side, imho.
Their "fault" for making RoV what it is (it was supposed to be the "final" story because the game was gonna die blahblah but something must have happened in their headquarters meanwhile, it seems)
I do like the proposed suggestions for VW, hope they go ahead with them.
If (pretty big if) they ever make a new expansion, nothing will really be contradicted because the future we now live in will be a different one than Iroha came from, so it's perfectly plausible we'll have adventures that that future PC never had, or we simply had adventures we never got around to telling Iroha about.
I have a question, how does this help? I mean other than speeding up things (basically removing the need to return to town) Doesnt seem like this will really increase obtainment in a meaningful way.Greetings, everyone.
I have a small follow-up to my previous post.
As mentioned, we will be looking into other avenues for obtaining heavy metal plates; however, simply increasing the item drop rate is hard to do. Doing so would change some of the fundamental specifications of the content itself.
With this in mind, we are thinking of the following adjustments:
When combat begins, Voidstones held by the NPC “Voidwatch Officer” will be expended.
The Voidstones that are held by the NPC “Voidwatch Officer” will be expended 1 at a time, and this can be done until the entire stock has ran out.
(As it has been in the past, you can still use the Voidstones in your possession to summon Voidwalkers.)
You cannot obtain treasure when you do not possess any Voidstones, and if you are a party leader, you may not start combat without Voidstones.
Tripling the effect of cell items.
The team had been looking into making it so the cell items could be held in stacks of 99; however they encountered a number of problems and discovered that this would not be possible to accomplish. Instead, we are going to increase the effect of the item and adjust it so that 1 use of the item will max out the alignment.
With these adjustments participating in the content should be easier than before.
The vulnerability and alignment system will remain as is, but we will follow up on this with campaigns after April and look into further adjustments to the cell items. For the moment, we would like to see how these adjustments affect game play.
I think that one of the biggest turn offs about VW is the constant running back and forth and that should fix at least some part of it.
eh I wouldn't say it was the biggest turn off but it could be annoying. But on the other hand now you will have idiots just hogging spots for hours since they don't have to return and a few of them will probably either just be antisocial and not want to group or be automated and just not there to answer. So I'm guessing in the end this will be sidegrade
Nah, the biggest turn off about VW, has and always will be, getting max lights + cells and still getting rocks and sticks in your chest.
The proposed changes, while fine, do zero to help with HMP drop rates so I have no idea why the post even bothered to mention them. And I'm probably just being bitter at this point, but whatever other avenue they have planned to obtain HMP is likely to do jack and shit as well.
I believe I completely misread the proposed changes, when they said 1 cell would boost alignment to max I thought it would be max like the last VW campaign, but they're just talking about 1 cell doing what 3 currently do aren't they? So we'll still need to proc to max out lights.
I'm not saying it's not possible. I mean, they could make huge retcons or invent something very creative to fit a new expansion.
That's not my problem, it's POSSIBLE.
It would just be very un-epic and would kinda ruin the purpose and reason of existence of RoV.
RoV was born to bring all expansions together and create a "final" story in FFXI, something never done before in any other MMO.
Is making a new expansion after that possible? Yes.
But would it be very unepic and partially ruin the purpose of RoV? Again, yes.
But anyway sorry, didn't want to start too big of a conversation about that, it's meaningless at this point.
Those changes actually sound great. I'd probably spam my all voidstones out (and use the more obscure pop spots) if I didn't have to run back to town each time.
there's no reason for RoV to write FFXI out. the mothercrystal herself said that you, unlike other adventurers, would never stop doing so, other than short periods of rest.
and if they wanted to, they can simply revamp all the expansions for a re-release, releasing the expansions again over time, with rebalanced rewards and mechanics. in fact, this would be the more likely route, as remaking all those expansions at once would be a ridiculously costly venture in both money and time, instead of rereleasing the original missions and maybe rise of zilart first, then CoP, etc, leaving RoV out and adding more expansions.
then, in the faaar off future when FFXI-2 is dying, reintroduce a revamped RoV as the conclusion.
They already have an untold story to tell us. When we originally go to Iroha's homeland. Granted they obviously don't have the Dev team for a fully blown expansion.
